    Ah right. I’ve got the Gladiator A’s with zips. If there’s no kevlar there though, how come they are still C’s? Does that not make them type B’s?!!!! I gave up using C’s years ago.

    My bad. I know Pfanner don’t do them. I would have thought the kevlar would have made it pretty pointless?

    I was done by dinner anyway! No access for machine, 2 1/2’ gateway with right angle return and steps. Another 3m trench today, less than an hour with setting out. They’re only for planting, so only about a foot deep.

    Got these yesterday. 8’s were too small and 9’s a bit wide, but sorted with a pair of cheapo insoles. Beeswaxed, and used all day today. Pretty comfy, and seem well made enough. Thanks for the help, apart from Rich….

    I’d use a MEWP if I owned one, but I’d climb that all day long without any worries. Like Mick, I’d also consider some Cobra bracing as an extra safety measure. I think a fell would be a bit unnecessary in that location.

    I never used riggers (I hate riggers) shat themselves today during heavy digging in clay. I’m not interested in a boots debate, I need to buy these tomorrow.

    Glad you’ve made a start J, hope it goes really well for you, work and life! I was in Devon for New Year (north coast, just east of Ilfracombe). Stunning part of the world, but I feel your pain about the roads! It was really quiet out of season, but bollocks to even negotiating an arb set up down there, let alone forestry kit! Keep us updated mate!

    I doubt anything telescopic would be man enough. Something like a Stein Outreach would break in seconds. We just use Jameson poles with this head on, but it’s not exactly a compact set up for moving around!

    Errrr, because it’s fit for purpose? Back in the day, Armour Pruss cord wasn’t CE marked, but exceeded every CE requirement by some margin. How couldn’t it be fit for purpose, knowing that?

    It’s an age old problem for foresters. Weight is the only accurate way of measuring timber, too many variables in calculating accurate volume in round wood. I fully appreciate your roadside stacks will be decreasing in value as they dry out! Just get it sold asap. Timber wagons can measure the weight loaded.
