  1. I’m surprised the grinder didn’t grab your balls Dan, because you’ve obviously got a fairly big set! Fair play to your surgeon for cracking on. Fantastic progress. Every 0.1mm is 0.1mm closer to where you want to be. Thanks for the update, your mindset will get you through this. 💪
  2. Get a 150 bar and chain Stu, and report back.
  3. This is the Klou rake you grab with the grab.
  4. Waiting for a call back from NFU.
  5. Cracking price though. I might glue 2 together so I’ve got a saw with a big blade.
  6. Why was the 170 ‘infamous’?
  7. Adrian Flux called me yesterday to discuss my quote, which I told them was unacceptable (It was double DL’s renewal quote at over £800). They said they would see what they could do. They then told me I had 2 claims in the last 3 years (I have none), and that I had owned the truck since March last year, rather than 2007. They then adjusted the quote to £1600. How do these people make a living? Several other companies have kicked off with ‘What’s your best quote so far?’ then got arsey when I won’t tell them. Hastings Direct were unable to give me a quote at all. Direct Line’s 50% increase is looking more attractive every day!

Absolutely Mick. Someone being diagnosed with cancer isn’t comedy though, whoever they are.

It shouldn’t go in the joke thread because it’s not funny.
  10. How could he have known? There’s been nothing in the press about them.
  11. I’m actually all for auto-renewal, saves anyone being caught uninsured unless it’s deliberate.
  12. Absolutely Dan. At this rate I think I’ll end up wearing the 50% price increase from DL. I’ll just put my prices up 50% to compensate.
  13. Why on earth would I want to leave my own village?
  14. Adrian Flux were over a grand.
  15. Aviva were double the price of Direct Line’s renewal price. NFU are good, but it would be like getting a 10 dollar blowjob from a 1000 dollar hooker. I don’t need their level of service. I don’t need breakdown cover, legal cover, membership of the United Nations etc. I want a cheap quote for a cheap old van that doesn’t travel very far or very fast. You also have to call them, which always takes far longer than it should do.
  16. I’ve tried all the options Stu. The Stihl 150 bar with the 57DL Stihl 1.1mm is streets ahead of all the other combos.
  17. Also, in ‘Business Use’, am I ‘Carrying Goods for Hire or Reward’ or ‘Carrying my own goods’? It seems to make a big difference. If I stick chip or logs in the truck they have become my property, I don’t haul stuff for other people.
  18. It’s that time of year again. My quote from Direct Line for my old Transit Tipper has jumped from £270 to £411, a more than 50% increase. Another years no claims, truck another year older etc. The guy at Direct Line told me ‘premiums were increasing across the board because of the amount of uninsured drivers’. I politely told him I’d been hearing that line for over 30 years. ’We rip the arse out of any quote .com’ just came back with £1500! Can anyone personally recommend any companies for a competitive quote? The truck is an old dog now, I don’t need bells and whistles service. Not brokers. Thanks.
  19. Sorry, my bad. He wants hardwoods only.
  20. Can’t you haul it down to that bloke in Wokingham who wants free firewood?
  21. I too went for the 1.6 Jet winch about 16 years ago and haven’t regretted it. Not much I can’t do with it. No real speed though, if that’s important. As Dan says, don’t forget the handle. You won’t do it twice.
  22. It might be worth contacting the Environment Agency to see if they can recommend someone.
  23. Social media, probably.
  24. It can’t be the measles jab then, it’s been around for decades. Microwaves from mobile masts? Plastics? And what’s causing all this gender bending?
