  1. There is an airport in Inverness Paul and its spitting distance from the Forestry School. To be fair, I suppose you would not know that though, not having ventured any further north than Edinburgh.
  2. Your English is far superior to my Norwegian! I new there had to be some method in the madness. Thanks for taking the time to explain.
  3. Sorry Gary I don't have a reference for you as this info was gleaned from the far recesses of my brain. Plus I had looked it up in my lecture notes recently and hence was able to recall the difference quite readily.
  4. Er....yes I had worked out that much thanks. But who is Loz. It would be nice to know a bit more about who you would be working with and what their own skill set was, wouldn't it? Are you looking for someone to climb because you don't Loz or were you thinking of sharing the climbing? Do you have an Aerial rescue ticket? What sort of frequency of jobs are we talking about? PM me if you like. Cheers
  5. "The North" is a bit vague. I am assuming you mean somewhere like Inverness. If so. Yes I would.
  6. I believe she prefers a square sausage saftie stubby. A school boy error on your part I'm afraid.
  7. Aer yue pished Grary?
  8. Cheers Gary. I will contact Chris and reiterate my interest. Hopefully he could do something this year.
  9. I was another who missed out on this. Cheers Gary ya bugger! No but seriously if it was run again I would be interested. Perth would be a great venue for this type of thing.
  10. Ha ha that's interesting! As I received an email from the AA saying that the Slater talk was not well attended. Someone is telling porkies.
  11. A good number of those were from the highlands too! When did the AA last put on a training event in Inverness Paul?
  12. Just google "how to make a spore print". Its an easy process and you do not need any special equipment..
  13. Get yersel a spore print. Pholiota squarrosa have a brown spore print but Armillaria is white.
  14. +1 for Pholiota spp. possibly squarrosa
  15. Just crack on mate and let us know how it goes. Does anyone know if you can access Arbtalk from prison?
  16. Nice video. Just curious as to why you left the larger lower branches til last and did not cut them off on your way up?
  17. Interesting set of steps. Have they been loler assessed for winching? How much can you safely lift?
  18. Have either of you ever carried out leaf fall assessments?
  19. Thanks openspacman that looks like a useful app. So are the chains marked out too as well as mileage posts Bob_z_l ?
  20. How is distance in eighths of a mile measured along a track? I know there are markers every quarter of a mile but are the markers every eighth? or is there some other simple method of working this out on the ground?
  21. Thanks for your input Tony. Most helpful.
