  1. Toby on the lookout[emoji262]
  2. Right at this moment I can hear a bird beginning to sing in the darkness. Not the usual sound of traffic which starts about now although I have been awake since 2.30 a.m Like a lot of people my body clock is right out of sync of late. But that's ok,I don't have to be on site until 9?? I can always go back to sleep for a bit...but I love the serenity....and the silence.
  3. Which brings me up to Sunday. For me this puts a lot of what has happened this year into perspective.2020 for me hasn't been about a Virus,Pandemic, economy, politics etc... rather about society and peoples attitude to each other and their priorities. But I don't dwell on it.On a personal level i have had much worse years as mankind has.Much worse. As I stood in silence at the Memorial to the Durham Light Infantry. No parade or speech this year. But this gave me even more to contemplate. And remember the Millions who have suffered more hardship than i can ever imagine.
  4. He enjoys the peace of lockdown as much as I do...
  5. The last of the Autumn colour is the perfect backdrop.
  6. So for the next few weeks it's back to indoor life, making sure my folks are safe.Doing chores around the house.Working out with Dumbells the occasional bike ride and walking the dog around the empty riverbanks. Not much change in my routine then.I'm not complaining?
  7. I used to row at bow in a 4...Got to senior B level.
  8. I trust you have fully recovered? Those are gut wrenching injuries.
  9. Had to give it one last blip before giving it back and getting ready for lockdown 2.0
  10. Yes I like a quiet, peaceful life these days with the birds singing around me and the prospect of a new life around the corner....but getting productive with a good power saw and hungry chipper in the pouring rain is still my idea of heaven?☔
  11. Finished of the week with one of my own jobs and did it the noisy way with the help of my friend, his chipper and his 462.Bish bash Bosh.
  12. Always my favourite thing meeting new people and I've been booked in again so I've done my job right.Durham City Arborist?
  13. Even got the chance to show of the capability if the 220 on some crosscutting of some small stuff he'd felled.Although it can tackle this I prefer to use it mainly for shedding now.
  14. The 161T with the 10 inch bar is a very productive deadwooding saw.
  15. A very likeable chap and as a proud Durham City Lad I think it's my favourite company name.
  16. And out of the blue I got a call from someone I had briefly met in the chainsaw shop at the very beginning of the year. He said he liked my enthusiasm and would I do some climbing for him.So now I have a great contact and can start to save again and the name of the company suits me down to the ground. It rained most of the day but I still enjoyed a mixture of deadwoods, crown lifts and a dismantle all on one charge of the battery.
  17. I,ve been doing bits of voluntary work for the older folks in my community during pandemic like garden maintenance, hedgecitting etc and last week I had a great day cutting up some cherry timber that had been in someone's yard for a couple of years.Although extremely hard the 220 had no problem in quietly slicing it up.
  18. A bit later than usual I still get to see the sunrise over the City. The previous night this street was full with our Infamous student population as it had been ever since they were released from their quarantine. So i will actually look forward to a few weeks of peace again.
  19. Noticed this vehicle on the way back home.Pretty cool.
  20. No more sunrises before the Gym now the clocks have gone back or forward I forget which. In fact no more Gym for a while as it shuts once again and indeed even my best friend there had their last day after several years as a personal trainer.Johanne was the first person I met around Autumn 2016 when I climbed the stairs to the entrance knowing that this place could change my life and end my relationship with alcohol that had controlled my life for over twenty years. She moves back to her Native Norway and she knows I will never go back to my old lifestyle so it was a very positive goodbye.
  21. So things are winding down here in Durham including the brilliant show of colour on Toby's tree. The leaves have almost gone. But what a fantastic couple of weeks it was as I passed ot each day.
  22. I'll get in touch after lockdown Mark.Other than Tree stuff I'm battoning down the hatches and looking after my parents.?
