  1. It would help if I could get the word right! Unable to correct the typo, I meant to say Silvopasture.
  2. ‘I’m seen as the fool’: the farmers putting trees back into the UK’s fields | Trees and forests | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM It’s hoped a 12-year trial in Devon will persuade policymakers to back silvopasture to benefit the soil, livestock and climate It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. Got to be better for the land than the current crappy grass monoculture system. A big problem will obviously be grey squirrel damage, they'll have to stay on top of that.
  3. The interesting thing is the comments from people after that Twitter video. Their observations of things that were better about life back then in 1967. For instance:- People talking to each other due to no mobile phones, No fast food rubbish everywhere No obese people No food grazing
  4. So this must be a tribal thing as well; being overly concerned about which end of the pond you inhabit. Most of us have evolved beyond pond life now chap, so don't need to concern ourselves with which end we and others are in.
  5. Not really my little mate, there doesn't seem to be a prevailing wind in here at present, just a load of old guff from all directions as normal. And as if to illustrate the point, look who should pipe up with this little malodorous little gust?!
  6. Thanks for the lesson on isms and ists! It's all a bit us and them though isn't it? There's actually a lot more to life than being part of a tribe. You should try to experience the world outside the pond, and away from the keyboard, now and again. Being in a herd isn't necessary.
  7. Nice. Cheers for the heads up. So it is just because he is not right-wing enough for you, how odd. Seeing that this post was endorsed by my bezzie says it all to be honest, I didn't need the content.
  8. What on earth do you have against the guy to cause such a strength of feeling? It can't be just that he is a "leftist" surely. There must be some history to provoke such hostility.
  9. The Fruit Tree Handbook By Ben Pike | Used & New | 9781900322744 | World of Books WWW.WORLDOFBOOKS.COM Buy The Fruit Tree Handbook By Ben Pike. New & used copies available with free delivery in the UK. ISBN: 9781900322744. ISBN-10: 1900322749 This is also very good. For a broad and in depth coverage of fruit tree growing. Recommended by a fellow Arbtalker a couple years ago.
  10. Yesterday felt really autumnal to me here in the Midlands. It's rubbish!
  11. Surely that's a spoof story?![emoji30] [emoji30] If not then the world is even crazier than we thought.
  12. Fair enough point on semantics there, it was a somewhat ambiguous statement. I didn't expect parity, hence use of the word "again". Probably shouldn't have said "shocking" though.
  13. Shocking disparity in numbers of fatalities on both sides here again. Israel intensifies attacks in Gaza as conflict enters fifth day WWW.BBC.CO.UK More than 100 people have been killed in Gaza and seven have died in Israel since Monday.
  14. At least the water butts are filling up rapidly, that's about the only consolation to this crappy weather. Important for those of us on a meter.
  15. https://arbtalk.co.uk/applications/tapatalk/index.php?/topic/125690-A-dying-breed.#entry1883366 You might want to check this out. Compliments to my good friend Mr Johnsond.
  16. Wet and miserable outside is a good enough reason for me too. Got mine on again this evening. That and a good old bit of Roy Orbison really hits the spot!
  17. Of course not. What even is Global Warming? It's just a figment of Greta Thunberg's imagination. [emoji12][emoji12][emoji50]
  18. Six of one and half a dozen of the other.
  19. Still lighting the wood burner on occasional especially cold nights here. Not too bothered about it apart from the faff of it. I'm quite happy to burn up the rat contaminated dregs of logs from this particular stack as I've got a load of cords waiting to be processed and stacked but currently no free bays. It was a record breaking April in terms of frosty nights and low temperatures so not really a surprise. Not right though is it?
  20. The scrap men will be in tears once your secret to burning metal gets out!
  21. A lick of paint here and there wouldn't go amiss either. Don't know what he's been doing with his time, lazy bugger! [emoji12]
  22. What a legend. Inspirational.
  23. Don't worry, I've a couple of baskets for my eggs! The majority will be under glass. Any idea why last year was so good? So far this year is looking pretty bad. After weeks of near draught we've now got bitterly cold gales, heavy showers of rain, hail and even snow today, and intermittent frosts. Lovely!
