  1. Its just a big meccano set - instructions are clear and good - did not find many issues in following them, really well built kit. I put a few posts up as we went through the assembly - link below - we built ours up on a concrete slab and did not use any machine assistance - two of us lifted the sawhead on to the tracks
  2. Got a couple of days in milling scots pine with a view to getting a drying shed up, very pleased with the mill
  3. I think you will find either to be difficult to empty - unless of course you are prepared to cut the wire - we use 800mm net and find that to be plenty on 1200 x 1200 pallets
  4. Would be much appreciated thanks
  5. Correct - logosol B751
  6. Been watching a few youtube videos and attracted by the idea of fitting a laser to the bandmill but not been able to locate the recommended models and brackets in the UK so far - are any of you folks using lasers and are there any recommendations as to models to use or alternatively avoid?
  7. Got some oak we can mill but the seasoning would be down to you - wherabouts are you?
  8. Got one in the shed - big end has about 1mm up and down play
  9. I am sure I saw a thread a little while ago denigrating the very cheap pressure / Vacuum testers and recommending a couple of makes but I cannot locate it - can anyone direct me to it or recommend a decent kit please
  10. I have just ripped down a 550 XPG that was cutting out on tickover and sounding pretty horrible under power - we pulled the exhaust off it and thought that the piston was scored but having stripped it down there does not look to be a lot wrong with it. I did a compression check (cold) before stripping it down and only got 80 to 100psi. Having looked at a couple of youtube videos I should propably done a gross leak check before stripping it- I don't currently lhave a pressure test kit. There is significant (maybe 1mm) up and down play on the conrod big end (pretty good sideways wobble as well but as I understand it that is normal) - I seem to recall reading that this is a failure point on these saws but did not find anything on a search of this forum
  11. Well I hope that those who reckon Scots Pine has natural durability are correct - the winter storms brought down some big granny pines with good millable lengths but no mill near us will take it. A local school wanted sleepers for the kids garden plots so we undertook to provide them - a local commercial mill has also offered to pressure treat them. We still have a good pile to mill and have a load of 4x2 as offcuts from producing the 8x4 sleepers so next projext is a timber drying shed
  12. Not all today by any means - been playing with the Logosol on wet days and pretty happy - we had some crappy spruce and larch which we ran through to get a feel for things. A couple of weeks ago a neighbour had what he thought was a small straight oak windblown - when we cleared the ivy away we found it burred - when we ran it through the mill we found it was not oak but think it is elm - it had some figure and burr in it so he is pretty pleased to get it. Another wet day today so we ran through some fairly poor oak - when we cut into it found some reasonable figure but a lot of faults - anyway we got some good stuff out of it including enough slabs to make a false lintel for a house renovation. need to get a shed up for timber drying
  13. Many thanks for the response - I take it the heat store performed as expected and the early morning heating and hot water is adequate. 2000l is a fairly large thermal store - how did you arrive at that size can I ask?
  14. They are still on the go but no listing for the Midi range on the spare parts list
