  1. Anyone on here going to Le Mans classic this weekend? I'm going with a few mates in our Triumph Stags - leaving at 5am tomorrow morning! 😨
  2. Steve Burkitt - there's a name from the past. I remember Steve When he did some subbing to Gifford Tree Service back in the late 80's early 90's
  3. Thanks chaps. Funny enough I saw RJ at Wentworth Golf club and made a note of their number. I did email him before going in holiday, but didn't get a reply. I'll try calling him tomorrow. Cheers
  4. Had a little miss hap Al? Have you tried LS Engineers?
  5. Saw this on Ebay, but think it is in Northern Ireland so too far to look at and finishes tomorrow. Seller is not answering any questions so will not be bidding - shame really.... Avant Loader 635 | eBay
  6. I have a job coming up next week to remove 10 Oak trees, and could do with a crane to lift the trees out. I use a west London company, but looking to see if there is a more local crane company to newbury that is recommended. Cheers...Al
  7. £125 for the day. Bit more than they used to charge as it's brand new. Atleast the 4wd and diff lock worked as needed it to get up the slope. It was very quick in getting from bottom to top with a load of branches. Must buy one some time.....
  8. I've got one of these, and with the airbed or football inflator adaptor on, blows the saws out fine.
  9. Had an avant 528 to play with today - brand new! Coped with going up and down no trouble, and saved a huge amount of time. For the big tree I would prefer a bigger avant with more hp. Here is a short video : [ame] [/ame]
  10. You've come a long way in a couple of years, Al :-P
  11. I think the front would keep digging into the slope if I tried winching, as it is pretty steep.
  12. May try a chance to try an avant on some smaller stuff on the same site on Friday. Big tree is waiting until I am back from holiday.
  13. Will probably try an avant, but one that the 4x4 is definitely working on. Cheers.
  14. No field at bottom. Just more gardens. Might be asking a bit much of my groundy to haul a loaded Arb trolley up a 1:3 slope :-D
  15. Just trying to make a ballache job more fun and quicker!
  16. This is the garden. It a lot steeper than it looks in th photo. Everything down the right is coming out a the massive conifer at the bottom. He second photo shows the base. Those bigger stems are 2ft dia + and approx 60ft high! I'll be dead after carrying that lot out by hand! Could try the winch but it will be going all day...
  17. The ground is a soil slope, although the surface is getting quite hard now it has dried up, so a chunky grip like tractor tread would be better than turf tyres. I'm going to see if the hire company has something like an avant but bigger. last time I had an Avant on a slope, it wouldn't get back up with a load on.
  18. I did wonder about this, but it has to go up hill not down, so would need a winch or something to haul the loads up, could be a bit to complicated.??
  19. Nice idea but the chips have to be removed, so better to get the branches out to the chipper.
  20. I've got a job coming up in a back garden where the slope down into the garden is about 1 in 3, and about 20m long. I need something that will grab the branches and wood from the monstrous conifer at the bottom of the garden, and run it up to the top. I can get something bigger than an Avant in there, but not sure whether to go 4x4 wheels or tracks, especially if it starts to rain? Any advice appreciated. Cheers....Al
  21. Not sure about that. It was blue and belonged to, what used to be, Gifford Tree Service in Cobham, so right area!
  22. That's an awesome looking grinder. 25 years ago I remember using a Levco HD50 with a big drum on the front and about 5 rows of teeth. The drum was very heavy and was basically raised up by hydraulic arms and then dropped free fall onto the stump. It was by impressive, not sure if there are any about now?
