  1. Glad I brought this up, seems I'm not the only one having issues with vxl chain. I'll try the grinding the back of the top plate, but as ricbob says, we shouldn't have to do this.
  2. Looked at a couple of Wellingtonias today. One has been aerated at mulched, but had this fungus at the base - is it honey fungus? These is also this staining which seems to be coming from pruning wounds, is it normal on Wellys? Cheers Al
  3. I've been using some Oregon lo pro 91VXL on my 12" 201T the last couple of days, and the saw jumps around and snags all the time when cutting. I've always used picco chain before and never experienced this kind of behaviour. Anyone else have this problem? Cheers...Al
  4. I think M&M (or MJ can't remember now) Tree surgeons uses to use one around the Wimbledon area a good many years ago.
  5. I'm using the 10.5% rate for forestry. My vat payment each quarter is always less than if I had been on the normal scheme. Take your point about receipts. I was only talking about needing to add them all up for doing the return. For capital asset purchases you can still claim back the vat if it is £2000 inc vat or more.
  6. Check to see if you are eligible for flat rate vat scheme. You don't have to collect all the vat receipts (I still do though!) and is much simpler to run.
  7. There's this pic. Didn't have to worry about the tents getting wet!
  8. Weather last night was great, sitting out until midnight. Today was raining cats and dogs, not nice driving down the M1 with a slightly leaky soft top! :-D
  9. Up at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate at the Triumph Stag National weekend. Having some beers with mates, around a Norwegian candle
  10. After a mammoth spanner day, Daily is back up and running again 👍 Managed to get some good second hand camshafts from Truck Bizz near Winchester for £200. As opposed to £600 for new camshafts. :-D If it hadn't been for the delay in getting the parts, it would have been back on the road days ago.
  11. My advertising is minimal now compared to when I started. Get a lot of repeat custom and word of mouth now after 10 years, nice place to be. I've heard before the first few years are the hardest until the repeats start coming, seems true for me. Not sure I would move a game of golf to accommodate quotes though! ME time, and family time is important. Al.
  12. Seeing as you asked last invoice number is 2375, so around 60% conversion rate. But I was trying to highlight that the number of quotes has gone up 3 fold in the last year, and was wondering if others had seen the same thing? Al.
  13. Oops, what I meant to type (fingers are tired now!!) was a 1000 quotes every 3 years for the first 9 years, and then the last 1000 in just over 1 year.
  14. I've been running my company for nearly 10 years now and noticed an interesting statistic earlier as I typed up the 4000th quote. For the first 9 years I have been doing approx 1000 quotes a year give or take a few. The last 1000 quotes have been done in just over a year, a sure sign the recession is ending?? No wonder I have been spending so much time in the office in the evenings!!!
  15. I stripped the valves out for the cylinder head and checked them all. They were all OK, cleaned them up ground the valve seats and put them back in. The only damage is to the rockers and the camshafts. Got some good used camshafts coming hopefully. 👍
  16. Spoke to Iveco, and the rocker cover is not machine matched to the head. Now looking for good used one..
  17. Don't know about that. I'll check with iveco tomorrow.
  18. The head is alright. The rocker cover that fits on the head has twin camshafts incorporated in it and is the problem as the camshafts are scored . Might be able to get the rocker cover complete, but the camshafts will need to be good.
  19. Cheers Bob! I'll do a bit of investigating. It's mainly the camshafts that are proving hard to get. Not sure about second hand ones as the lobes can get worn. The rest of the stuff is gaskets, the right ones this time! Good to meet you the other evening. Cheers Al
  20. Cheers Moosie! I'll call them tomorrow. Al.
  21. Mmmm. I know :mad1: Had one price from Grays Trucks in Guildford of about £1700, but only had one camshaft and there was a back order with no delivery date for them:scared1: Trying Zeppelin to see what they can come up with. Cheers.
  22. Afterbeiung away fro the weekend, this morning I drained the oil and removed the sump. Found 12 of the 13 needle rollers plus the one big roller in the sump, the other needle roller was hiding in the oil pick up pipe! Relieved that I found them all. Took the cylinder head home and stripped the valves out to check they were niot bent, cleaned them up and put them back in again. Whikst doing this I found another needle roller - either this one or the one in the pick up pipe was left over from the head rebuild last year - I'd be worried if the mechanics do any repairs on the previous owners other vehicles! Just got to get a new set of rockers, timing belt, cam shafts and gaskets etc, and should be back on the road. Oh, and oil!
