1. Thanks Guys. I'll know what to look for next time. 👍
2. I bid and won what looked like a genuine ebay sale: Avant Loader 635 trailer | eBay The subsequent emails and invoices from 'ebay' rang alarm bells, and contacted ebay to see if it was real. The sale was real, but the invoice I received wasn't, and then they wanted money to be transferred to an account - well i obviously told them to go and do one. Real shame because I thought I had bought a good-un and not too cheap to think this isn't right. Anyone else on here bid for it? Al.
3. +1 that's how I was doing it the other day. Or the groundie was cutting and piling it up and then grabbing it. I was limited in the width of the pile as had to get through a narrowish gap with a conifer on one side and empty swimming pool in the other!
4. Cheers. Its the 2.3 engine.
5. Sold as seen Bob.. Trying to find out who did the head work last year and chat to them, but don't hold my hopes up. Trucks only do 2k miss since the rebuild!
6. One of the rockers was completely broken, a few others had come apart with needle rollers all over the place. Took all the rockers off and fished out all the bits of metal I could find but missing 13 needle rollers and one big roller  Have now taken the head off and going to drain the oil and remove the sump to see if I can find them. But worried as to what caused this to happen so called an Iveco mechanic I know. He came and had a look, saw the rocker cover gasket and said that's the cause - too thick, should be a thin one on the this engine! A thick gasket raises the camshaft too high above the rockers giving them too much clearance. Was it black smoking at all he asked, yes it was - gasket caused that as well. Just got to find the missing bits of metal, buy some new bits and put it back together.!
7. Driving back from kensington on Thursday and the engine started making a loud knocking noise. Pulled over and AA rescued us. I bought this truck the previous Monday, and the head had been rebuilt the year before after the timing belt jumped a tooth or two. Took the timing cover off yesterday and all was fine, belt intact and timing marks lined up. Took the rocker cover off and found this
8. I went to Boulter tipper near Basingstoke. Did a good job for me, and reasonably priced. I'm near Chobham so not far from you.
9. Engine started making a loud knocking noise from the top. Will see what the problem is shortly.
10. I have often been confused when I heard the word 'service' used with these agencies: Banking 'Service' Postal 'Service' Telephone 'Service' Pay TV 'Service' State & Public 'Service' Customer 'Service' Bureaucratic 'Service' This is not what I thought 'Service' meant. Recently I visited my son Adam’s farm and he had hired a bull to 'Service' his cows. Suddenly WOW!!! It all came clear. Now I understand what all those agencies are doing to us!
11. We did the humongous lawson conifer today. Used an Avant 528 again but this time it was their older model and it coped very well going up and down the slope. Picked up some bits that were 3ft in dia and 3.5ft long. Back wheels were almost coming off the ground! The wood went into a 40 yard bin and chips into my 7.5t lorry. 2 days to do the job, plus a few extras.
12. Ok, thanks for letting me know its sold already. Don't you just love traders who don't update there website! Cheers....Al.
13. I used to have a 2b forward control with a tipping body, used it around Richmond Park when I used to do the trees in there. Great bit of kit, bit noisy in the cab though!
14. Cheers for the reply. Will have a think on this one.
15. The Daily needed the body re-doing, and would rather spend my money on a newer vehicle.
16. Anyone use one of these for tree surgery? Need a 3.5t truck and there is one for sale already kitted out for tree work. Bit concerned about the 110hp when it is loaded and pulling the chipper though. Cheers...Al
17. Photos can be deceiving. That back limb is about 2ft in dia and around 40ft long. With the headstones underneath it would take a day just to rig that down! The trunk is around 5ft in dia. Are there any matadors still around?
18. Bring a rope party! I can just picture it... 10 ropes attached, 50 people on each rope.....
19. I'm sure he would, but the employer should be supplying them free anyway.
20. Made it to the ferry at Newhaven. It's like being at a classic car show here!
