  1. Thanks for the info on the 026 i have been looking at it can't grasp most of it yet. the parts list will be very handy just quote part number brill many thanks.

  2. Yes i long for a dry spell, we are flooded here the water is going over the top of all the ditches and going overland as all the pipes and drains are blocked with the hedgecutter clippings. today i had to repair the park fence before we loose the sheep again i picked up two dead sheep today and a lamb, there are at least 20 lambs but it is to wet and cold for them.

  3. No i do not climb, i do most of the tree felling. all the roadside trees and the climbing work goes to a contractor. i risk assess the trees and if i pick up on any defects i tell the agent who then gets some quotes and a contractor. a long chain of command as i could get lots of people off of arbtalk to do the work and they would come a lot quicker.sometimes they say yes to work sometimes no last year i had a climber in to deadwood a 600 year old oak which has a nice low crown.

  4. I am just about had enough of this weather nick rained all day today i worked in it this morning. My list of jobs for this winter is looking like not getting done, all i need is bright frosty days, what say you?

  5. Not so good this week with snow and rain. Then on friday i had to go and cut out an overgrown footpath what a job a nightmare. The council used to trim footpaths but now they say it is the landowners job to keep footpaths clear, i have got 33 miles of footpaths and bridleways. How do you get on with footpaths on your estate? you sound happy in your work?

  6. Hi so is joe westrup a member of arbtalk, if not why not he will learn a lot on here. you said you was doing line clearance was you in helmingham last week? How is work are you keeping busy?

  8. How is your new job going? i hope you are enjoying it.

  9. Welcome to the woodmans choice.

  10. Cool i don't know if i like the idea of being allways fixed to the tractor, much better to be able to drop it off when not needed IMO

  11. Same here there is no money for woods department and when i do get some halfway through the year it gets shifted to a department that has run out usually the building maintenance department.

  12. Hi mate where did you get your 3 point linkage crane from and what make was it.

  13. Hi ben i got a massey ferguson4225 80 hp with a loaderon it i have just got to get a grab. this is good for me as i have had to hand ball wood into trailors not good. but no crane maybe i will push for it in 2010.

  14. Hi nick you have been a bit quiet of late i guess you must be busy. it was really cold today in the wind i was on a shoot, i would rather have been in a wood with a fire.

  15. Contractors haha they cannot afford them. I have the same problem with tubes the estate say burn them the EA say no burning of plastic.on friday afternoon i had to go in our ancient wood as the deer had knocked all the tubes over and made a right mess

  16. Hi mate i still need to phone you i will try and fit that in soon, must get my processor working properly before next season.

  17. Ihave been beating most of the week last one tomoz. Got my new tractor well new to me LOL. I am still felling spruce. then i am going thinning.this will interest you the plantation was poplar and they all fell in 87 gales, replanted in 89 mixed broadleaves and never been thinned not even cleared of elder and bramble. the agent said it is a rubbish wood but it is a lovely wood at least the owner likes it as well. most of the plantations were planted in the 70s and have still got tubes on and the bark is soft underneath. but it is to much to do for one man. your holiday sounds cool?

  18. Yes i agree i like seeing what you plant grow and turn into a future wood. What evergreen shrubs do you plant? laural and lonicera i have stopped planting lonicera as it goes to wild.
