  1. In Chesterfield, Derbyshire, there is an old church called the CROOKED SPIRE. A few years ago, health and safety crew moved in on it. It was in the centre of the ancient marked town and had very old ornate gravestones. These have all been lifted and stacked around the edge of the grounds. Easier to mow now i suppose, and of course non will ever fall on anyone, or no-one will trip over them! Big shame as it was a lovely old churchyard, and now looks sterile:sad:
  2. I've got 3 bottles of sloe gin and a bottle of sloe vodka stewing at the moment. Its been a good year for sloe's and i now can't wait for Christmas:biggrin: Stoves not lit yet, as its too warm in the Midlands Yet.
  3. I have picked up a used Rockinger 243 tow hitch. It has a lever on the right side and a pull knob on the left. The hitch appears to be locked open. I assumed that the knob should be pulled out and held, whilst the lever is lowered to close the hitch pin, but it does not move. Before i force it, does anyone have one of these type of hitches, and can confirm its operation please?
  4. Dean, i'm sure you can buy dye to mix with the petrol. A lot of quarry companies in the peak district dye their diesel, with dye specifically coloured for them so that if stolen it can be identified. Don't know who would sell it though.
  5. My son started yesterday. Been vomiting on and off since. Hope it ends soon, as i feel helpless looking after him.
  6. Andy's more than right. Make sure you have the serial numbers!! The police dispose of huge numbers of chainsaws etc each year because the owners cannot be traced. If your equipment is stolen, and its reported to police. Pass them the serial numbers, and they will log them onto the computer. Even if the saws turn up years later, they can be traced to you. Further to the above, due the large amount of thefts of arb equipment, people might consider SMARTWATER. This is an invisible liquid which can be placed on any equipment permanantly. You only need a small spot and it shows up under ultra violet light. Each smartwater has a unique code, and so is fully traceable back to the purchaser. The police are using this more and more.
  7. Good to see you've got the Mog up and running Ed. Keep posting some photo's as it's nice to see the old U900's working as they should be.
  8. Like it Steve!
  9. If i can clarify. I am looking for the most suitable chipper re the adjustable control to reduce chip size. I would intend using a hammer mill to finally reduce chips to dust for pellet manufacture, but would require a chipper to produce small chip size to reduce strain etc of the hammer mill. Therefore i suppose my question is what is the best adjustable small chipper which can produce reasonably small sized chips?
  10. I am looking for a small chipper with an adjustable chip size. I am looking for one which can be adjusted when required without a huge amount of time and effort, to produce the smallest chip size possible (ie down to practically dust) for potential wood pellet production. What is the best out there at the moment?
  11. Mike's right. Look on german ebay. Unimog parts are on their quite often, and shipping to the US isn't a problem or very costly.
  12. Does your U900 have the x frame fitted already? If so, for a few extra parts you can't beat the versatility of a three way tipper. You can never predict what setup your mog might be using in the future. If it does not have an x frame, i still think if would be worth getting second hand parts and fitting one. Once you have fitted a rear tipping body only, then your out of options.
  13. Frightening.
  14. Mike, great job on a giant Pop. If you keep posting pics like these we will all want to move to Norway.
  15. Tommy, excellent work. keep posting the photo's. Certainly gives me inspiration, and the determination to have a go!
  16. Google. Searching for chainsaw info and it highlighed an Arbtalk thread. Excellent site with lots of info. Learning all the time and have never looked back.
  17. Great pics. Who wouldn't like to be involved in a job like that! Where about's in Norway is it Mike?
  18. Looks like a great day out. Makes me feel even worse as I couldn't attend.
  19. Sorry guys, due to work commitments i'm not free until 1600hrs. I am only an hour/hour & half away, but I guess most will have gone or be leaving by the time i could attend. So i won't be coming. If you have another one, i'll see you then.

  21. How are we going to know if we've all won? Why don't you video it and put it on youtube!
  22. Excellent link Ed. Should be interesting to see how the comparisons progress over the next few months with all the predictions of gas and electric increases. I think we are all going to get hammered this winter with further price rises.
  23. Ed, i would be definitely interested in the pellet option for fueling the Aga when i move. My main consideration apart from cost would be how long it would take to fire up the Aga to use it. Let me know any details when you have them please.
  24. I'm not sure if it will make the property more saleable. It is going to depend on where you live I think. Even though heating prices are going up all the time, the vast majority of the population are becoming sheep and just excepting it and paying more. The majority of people i talk to are just moaning about the cost. They are not looking at how to reduce costs by changing the systems they have used for years. I would embrace a property with a wood boiler but i am not lazy and am happy to keep getting wood and filling it. I fear that people would be put off by the boiler and would want the standard inefficient gas boiler. I would consider fitting a boiler temporarily, and ensure it could be removed it required when i moved.
  25. I know what you mean Steve. When i rebuilt my house i spent a fortune insulating it. I have a woodburner in the lounge which only needs lighting in winter. With the Aga and the wood burner going the house gets very warm no matter what the weather is like outside. Over the next couple of years i am looking to move somewhere more rural, and i'm looking at best heating possabilites for that. In a previous thread i liked the woodchip boilers, but its the cooking aspect i'm struggling with. I love the Aga for cooking etc, but the fuel costs are killing me. I converted it from solid fuel, as coke plant nearby closed and cheap coke deal ended, and oil was cheaper. May consider changing it back to solid (use wood) when i move, but you lose the conveniance of it being up to temp all the time. It's looking like if i want the conveniance i am going to have to pay the price for it. All i can think it to try and save money elsewhere, but i'm running out of options.
