  1. I would avoid the AA Tech Cert Exam if I were you, they do not provide marking instructions for past papers, so you cant prepare for what exactly the marker is looking for. It would seem they dont have any which is not only very amateurish but fundamentally wrong. On a positive note, you would probably learn useful information studying for the exam, but then you can do that anyway without the course.
  2. Does anyone know where you can buy those caddie pads in the UK without going through Wesspur etc? Jonesie? Nod? HoneyBs? d'you guys sell them? Is there any difference between caddie pads and these 'cast aluminium' pads that are supplied with these Buckinghams from the wesspur site?

  4. failed mot due to chassis, no tax. But it is drivable, probably not a good idea to take it out on the roads though.
  5. Yes, tap a small hammer on any part of the chassis, chances are it'll go straight through. Reckon the previous owner was a shepherd/farmer, seen that kind of corrosion in farm Defenders in the past. Bought it with the intention of fitting a galvanised chassis.   7. Car Tax - Everything the UK government does today is to raise money,the whole thing's a racket. How can a Ford Galaxy be bad for the environment?! You can get 6 kids in it to take to the football, you'd need two cars otherwise, the fact is....the government wants us all to drive Micras and Aygos! rant over.

  9. Got a 200tdi with 80K on the clock if your interested? Only thing is you have to take the rest of the vehicle with it -- L Reg 110 Hi Cap Pick Up that needs a new chassis, bodywise its fine - was bought as hobby/project but havent had time or extra cash to do it up, its yours for £950. Can post pics if your interested.
  10. Yep, I've seen loads of climbers over the years using a single tie in point when cutting, everyone used to do it, still see it today. I do it myself when having two tie in points would increase the risk of an accident when climbing (storm damage/hung up tree etc) but that pic is the worst example of using a single tie in point I think I've ever seen. No disrespect to the climber who I'm sure felt totally in control and comfortable with his single tie in point, but using just one tie in point when performing a coronet cut in that position looks like suicide. Any thoughts?

  15. Reg, thanks for filming the removal. Excellent job by you and the rest of the crew. The floating anchor point for easy retrieval is an excellent idea. The adaptation of Paolo Bavaresco's 'extreme rigging' ideas with the lag hooks worked very well. It also reminded me of some Gerald Beranek's techniques in 'Fundamentals of General Treework'. Good to see the Block Driver in use. .

  17. Having done 60,000 in my 54 plate D22 from new I know the Nissan is a good pick up. But there's definatley a pattern with these engine failures on the D22/Navara, and it seems Nissan aren't fixing the problem and are very poor at honouring the warranty. Nearly all of the failures are in the 3rd cylinder/chamber, people are calling it conrod failure, but the conrod wouldn't fail unless there was poor oil supply to the piston/chamber. There's an obvious problem and Nissan know it. They're putting their heads in the sand on this one and giving people huge problems buy failing to honour the warranty.

Con rod gone through block after 11 days. Luckily??? still had 9 days of nissan warranty left. It is at nissan now waiting on decision. Fall back is garage warranty where I bought it and they are fighting my corner but reading this forum do I want it back!!!" I own a D22 Navara KingCab(from new) with 60,000 on the clock(no problems so far), now I'm getting worried, was thinking of the NP300 as a replacement, but if it has the same engine as the d22 - think i'll look elsewhere - maybe L200? ..................................

  24. Mike, where did you here that? Thats great news. I'm looking for a low milage unworked D22 crew cab Navara 2005 - I think that was the last year of the D22s. Think I might wait for the NP300, when's it being launched? I have the D22 KingCab, but now need a crewcab for family reasons. Never liked the D40 shape or towing capacity. It was clearly aimed at the SUV market. Good to hear Nissan have realised how much people liked the old D22 as a work vehicle.
