  1. I wasn't getting into the whole 'two tie in points' argument matty, in that pic a second tie in point would be a good idea, lets just leave it that.
  2. Got a 200tdi with 80K on the clock if your interested? Only thing is you have to take the rest of the vehicle with it -- L Reg 110 Hi Cap Pick Up that needs a new chassis, bodywise its fine - was bought as hobby/project but havent had time or extra cash to do it up, its yours for £950. Can post pics if your interested.
  3. Yep, I've seen loads of climbers over the years using a single tie in point when cutting, everyone used to do it, still see it today. I do it myself when having two tie in points would increase the risk of an accident when climbing (storm damage/hung up tree etc) but that pic is the worst example of using a single tie in point I think I've ever seen. No disrespect to the climber who I'm sure felt totally in control and comfortable with his single tie in point, but using just one tie in point when performing a coronet cut in that position looks like suicide. Any thoughts?
  4. Very nice truck Ed, but that sign on the back looks daft, get rid of it! are you gonna get the TP shotblasted now!
  5. The EU are proposing lowering VAT to as little as 5% for local firms which includes gardening, building etc. Treework would no doubt be included. http://http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7492834.stm
  6. Anyone seen these? they're available in the UK, dont know how much they cost though. http://www.daily4x4.iveco.com/?lang=en here's a vid of the daily and massif - [ame= ] [/ame] Also, anyone seen an Iveco Massif?
  7. What is our main objective?
  8. Reg, thanks for filming the removal. Excellent job by you and the rest of the crew. The floating anchor point for easy retrieval is an excellent idea. The adaptation of Paolo Bavaresco's 'extreme rigging' ideas with the lag hooks worked very well. It also reminded me of some Gerald Beranek's techniques in 'Fundamentals of General Treework'. Good to see the Block Driver in use. .
  9. does your vt look like this?
  10. Having done 60,000 in my 54 plate D22 from new I know the Nissan is a good pick up. But there's definatley a pattern with these engine failures on the D22/Navara, and it seems Nissan aren't fixing the problem and are very poor at honouring the warranty. Nearly all of the failures are in the 3rd cylinder/chamber, people are calling it conrod failure, but the conrod wouldn't fail unless there was poor oil supply to the piston/chamber. There's an obvious problem and Nissan know it. They're putting their heads in the sand on this one and giving people huge problems buy failing to honour the warranty.
  11. Definatley wont be buying another Nissan pick up, there are countless stories like this on UK 4x4 forums "I also have a 54 plate navara 66,000 miles 2yrs 11 months old wth a blown engine due to con rod failier.I have a full nissan service history i have now been waiting 7 weeks for a decision on if they are going to replace the engine "
  12. Below is an quote from a guy on a UK 4x4 forum discussing the d22 conrod/engine issue - The Nissan Warranty sounds like its not worth the paper it's written on - "Bought 54 plate Outlaw from independant dealer with 3 months warranty. 46k on the clock. Con rod gone through block after 11 days. Luckily??? still had 9 days of nissan warranty left. It is at nissan now waiting on decision. Fall back is garage warranty where I bought it and they are fighting my corner but reading this forum do I want it back!!!" I own a D22 Navara KingCab(from new) with 60,000 on the clock(no problems so far), now I'm getting worried, was thinking of the NP300 as a replacement, but if it has the same engine as the d22 - think i'll look elsewhere - maybe L200? ..................................

  14. did you sell the old 110 then?
  15. Seeing as your from Louisiana, let me explain..... The British are a sentimental lot, they look back fondly to the days when Britain was a nice place to live and everybody was polite and pleasant to each other circa 1950. Watch this video to see what British people used to be like - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neLInogiWDg&feature=related]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neLInogiWDg&feature=related[/ame] The tree cutting bus is attempt to recreate the Britain of the 1950s. Why? Here is Britain today - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH4hH6_WbVc&feature=related]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH4hH6_WbVc&feature=related[/ame]
  16. Here's a tree cutting bus -
  17. Mike, where did you here that? Thats great news. I'm looking for a low milage unworked D22 crew cab Navara 2005 - I think that was the last year of the D22s. Think I might wait for the NP300, when's it being launched? I have the D22 KingCab, but now need a crewcab for family reasons. Never liked the D40 shape or towing capacity. It was clearly aimed at the SUV market. Good to hear Nissan have realised how much people liked the old D22 as a work vehicle.
  18. I can get either set for the same price, any opinions on which is better/longer lasting? never used either of them before.
  19. Maybe time to wear a dust mask when shovelling composting woodchips? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1026153/Gardener-dies-breathes-deadly-fungus-rotted-leaves-compost-heap.html
  20. If you guys are worried about that binner you should probably get out of treework. Nice vid Reg.
  21. Laz, remember this vid from treebuzz? dont know who it was and if its the same equipment being used, but looks similar to the frog. Any thoughts? [ame= ] [/ame]
  22. Thanks Ed, the Jonsered? thats a cs2171, same saw as the Husky 372xp but in red, its excellent.
  23. Before we felled the stem we cut away the split parts - this was all that was holding the tree up.
  24. Had to remove this Japanese Red Cedar(Cryptomeria japonica) from a large Victorian garden at the weekend as it had become hazardous. The stem had split in various places recently and it was right beside the main access road into the property(school). The sad thing is, it was the only Cryptomeria they had in the whole garden in amongst Giant Sequoias, Western Hemlocks, Lawsons Cypress, Silver Firs etc.
