  1. You need to sort the time out as it indicates all posted times as 1 hr wrong...but I guess you knew tha' eh!!?
  2. I have snagged my saw many times in trousers and on those occasions when the saw is stopped by the ballistic, leaving strands attached, one way to restart the rotation of the chain in the bar might be to throttle the saw and push it round. In so doing you will notice that the material becomes like milk...a white liquid essentially....this is the melted product. Your saw may need no further tinkering at this point. My point is this...if it were kevlar, it would not melt or become milky.... a nylon/ man-made /petrolcarbon derivative I think, in a very large part anyway....? Otherwise, I am of the opinion that the Husqvarna trousers offer the most efficient protection against the saw....this I have gleaned from test results in the field......I am prepared to accept that this may no longer be the case however. As has been said however, there are more issues to consider when choosing trousers...fit,durability,cost, heat, protection class......etc.
  3. Seen here on plum...but reading that robinia is candidate...(?) anyone.... http://www.english-country-garden.com/a/i/fungus/phellinus-tuberculosus-1.jpg http://www.english-country-garden.com/a/i/fungus/phellinus-tuberculosus-3.jpg
  4. Significant white rot decay fungus affecting stem base and roots...affects broadleaf mostly but conifer also....sorry to be so brief. no time atm....Suggest look it up " Manual of Wood Decays in Trees " ( Weber & Mattheck ) isbn0900978 35 x
  5. Where are you gettin' your info Tom....? I cant find diddly squat...even less for pomaceus.....Thanx for posting.
  6. Interesting...I cant find any helpful info on the Phellinus...maybe was pomaceus in past nomenclature....?
  7. From Dog to God...see whats happenin' here...!! Beam me up Scotty, theyre all soft in th' heead!!
  8. Do you use heated handlebars on the saw.....? I know so many arborists with these complaints but frankly more than white finger. They are all of a certain age. I say this as the heated bars are very helpful in maintaining circulation. Do you smoke? You shouldnt. Try stop doin' it at work. Your buddies will thank you, you'll get more done and wont piss off people keep stoppin' and gassin' ( imo )...Well mate, you did ask!! It has been said that extract from Ginkgo biloba is very helpful with circulation issues...its expensive ( stop smoking!!) It shouldnt have reared its ugly head already...I'd say you must be susceptable....help yourself. I used to get turfed out of the pub for spillin' my beer but infact, I couldnt feel my hands as well as I thought I could and so beer and glass was regularly on the floor..... Embarassing but it could make your life a misery...If you read the industry blurb it says you wont even be able to attend football games as a spectator.....
  9. I think it should stop sittin' on the fence
  10. Its a bit like gettin' hit round the back of the head somehow...theres not alot you can do about this sort of thing except put it down to experience.
  11. Goodluck with tha'!!
  12. Urrr, yeah...but the price is agreed for a given job...not some fussy so-n-so who then stretches his credit by using up yours so to speak. Its always good to send a quote and proceed from an acceptance of this quote imo...cover your a***....remember, they havent paid you as yet but you have completed. You are the loser if it all turns sour!
  13. If you have sent a quote...this will do in many cases...verbal...no way!!
  14. IMHO, unless you have signed a contract with your client b4 undertaking work....I doubt that is worth the ink and space it takes to print it!!
  15. People get stupid about dogs....about cats, monkeys, horses, you name it.....other peoples are bearable, none of the responsibility!!
  16. There is some value in what you say I agree, to remove it would succeed only in creating a large wound and so infection court.....Definite identity crisis goin' on there!!
  17. This would tie in with a comment Andrew made in another thread/post if you will vis a vis how little arborists really know about stability assessment.....a penny drops moment!!
  18. BTW...Do we think this is adspersum ( on account of lumpy undersides)...The margin's are very slim....they are tricky sometimes....?
  19. Excellent...I only have to sit at home and nurse my f****d ankle whilst the fungi dance around my 37" monitor....Nice one!
  20. I hope you are not sorry to have spent on the new schwarze book...and impressive price tag over a ton I believe...I would be pleased to hear your opinions Tony as it is I'm sure a concise scientific work....!
  21. http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:cZRz42WnL2QJ:www.treelink.org/joa/2003/may/06James.pdf+ken+james+Mass+Damping
  22. What a mess mate....better with ivy intact imo...at least some conservation value that way.....sorry, derailing thread!! edit: Also failed to note concerns re target...I get used to seeing them everywhere in norfolk roadside...like beacons, signposts in the wilderness and natural milestones...no-one gives a care really...we all just passing. BTW, the more I read about the capabilities of thermal imaging the more impressed I am with the volume of information it yields for interpretation and how easily it gives up the haul.....it remains prohibitively expensive however....
  23. As a biker mate...geeez, glad you are ok...looks nasty man.
  24. The grief I've had over half dozen scrappy roadside syccys with root collar mech dam and internal decay...then you see this.......what..." wanted to show he still had it..."....b****x...looked like a pretty boring fell to me...massive gob and down she comes.....
