  1. Very nice!!!
  2. Just realised how attached I am to my little bouncy thing!!!!
  3. Perhaps in order to celebrate the new look of the forum we should all change our avatars???? Might be fun???
  4. Count me in!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. big old bit!!!!
  6. You did well to sell your house, just taken mine off the market, not a sniff for months!!!! Oh and the site looks great, most impressd.
  7. Photos??????
  8. Sorry to mislead, not a job actually for the H&S.
  9. In the past we used to do 25mm and up, but did a big H&S dead-wooding job 35+ trees a few months back and they were happy with and indeed suggested 50mm and above, lets face it most of the time when you are going past a small bit of dead you knock it off anyway, it just saves struggling to the end of a long limb to cut off a pencil sized piece of dead.
  10. Who's that been for???
  11. So was that Dover CC?? Well and truley in Mr Jones' neck of the woods
  12. Just writing the quote I've sugested 50mm (2 inches) and above, that's what we've done in the past for H&S stuff
  13. Yeh mate, but don't know who. Over quote sounds good, but in the current climate it's got to be competitive, that's why it needs to be on the nail price wise!!!
  14. I find people never want to pay money on their hedges.....especially conifers. They're a nightmare, I always price them the same as tree work so I don't get many, but the ones I do get are worth the hassle. Does anyone out there have a hedge rate and a tree rate???
  15. Looked at a great job today really good high climbs, the sort of stuff we all become arborists for!!!! It's a big job (for us anyway) dead-wooding 19 mature trees, oaks, limes, H.C., a black walnut, tulip tree felling 1 acacia (mmmm) etc etc all good stuff. Problem is I found it hard to price up, I reckon 10 days should do it but couldn't really see the whole crown on most of the trees (woodland walk trees) to asssess properly how much dead there is in them it could easily go over... we all know what big old oaks are like to deadwood!!! They don't want a daily rate but also accept that we don't really know how long it'll take to we start. How do you guys/gals price these up, do you have a contigency or just bite the bullit?? Do you put a proviso on the quote in case it takes longer or is that just my look out?? Ta very much

    Amazing

That's awesome, spent years trying to get the hang of circular breathing for playing the digd, god knows how they do that!!! Great find. Was you in the audience???
  17. nice work Ross, where were the trees?
  18. will try to. Thanks
  19. Sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure all our thoughts are with you.
  20. Spotted this the other day around the root plate of a big old Beech . Any ideas??? The crown has been looking a little sparse this year. Suggestions greatly recieved, thanks peeps.
  21. Mate if ever there was a reason that's it!!!!
  22. Mate, my standards are high enough thanks, I just wanted an opinion on what the world of dog ownership is like..... you know walks along the beach on a bracing morning with a faithful pet versus the minute risk of the loving pet eating a child or the guaranteed cases of diarrhea that it seems most dog owners will get, logistics of having a dog at work etc. etc. seems like some people love the opportunity to show us dense tree climbers how intelligent/well read they are to me. !!!!! Just a light hearted question, that's all it was.
  23. I use google adwords, it seems to work for us ........ocassionally in terms that we are quite high in the lists. Keep getting calls from companies wanting to optimise the website. How is it done, any recommendations of decent companies and costs? How much does it cost to get it optimised on a monthly basis? Our website is useful as a tool for when people get the quote they quite often will them check out the site, this seems to put their mind at rest that we are a professional company and not cowboys. I would like to invest more in the site and like said get 90% of my work from it!!!!
  24. Me too mate it's all gone a bit deep!!!!!!
  25. I'm gonna have a proper look tomorrow but I think they are indeed 31x 10.50. Currently the van has 235/70 r16 on. Do you think they would swap over with no need for farting about with stoppers and torsion bars??? Would these increase fuel consumption a lot??
