Im a crew leader and lead climber for this firm and i know the ground worker well and he is a good ground worker...the **** on the bike was at fault id say..but yes could have been better traffic management...i ride my bike most days to work 10 miles then drive a Unimog around london...i would never ride upto and try and go past a site with a man in the road in hi viz! its just stupid!! and silky fox you know me and i think its unfair what you said about the crews as you know how i run my crew and we are not all bad.
  4. Its a bit of where you put the rope guild and a ART Double Snapper 3 is a realy good idear as you can lower is down with out smashing it on the ground and if it gets stuck you can pull it back up to free it...never put my rope guide in with out one. matt
  5. Ayup Gerbutt.... i dont see it at the way forward but another option...no friction yes but no 2 to 1 advantage ether i think its harder work...but give it a go hey!
  6. SRT aint all that mate...we use it for access into big trees then switch over to DRT for the work..but a lot of the time i use the DRT frog system..fastish and not a lot of kit.
  7. I have climbed in Cs for 8 years and for the last 3 climbed in As...yes you are more more vulnerable in As but i think you know you cant cut any corners at all! and thats helps. Thay are a LOT cooler too, like most things its down to good work positioning.

  9. Hi im looking for work on saturdays near basingstoke, i drive and i work full time for a large tree firm in london in the wee as a lead climber/crew leader. Have been climbing for 11 years and well rounded. Have all my own climbing gear and 020. please send me a message hear thanks matt
  10. i think thay should have had extensive trials befor thay released in the uk. i would be interested in it but not going to lay out on the hope it works well.

  12. Well jon is a very ''my word is my bond'' type of lad which is a good thing.(most of the time) His work is of a very high standard and he is very professional. But i think 12 months with no phone call to remind them i a very long time, a call the night befor would have saved you a lot of crap as you know. and is it going to be worth the hassle? i think not.........matt. PS yes jon im good ta...moving down to london to start my new job in 3 weeks! swinging in the london plane's ha

  15. my god! if you cant get up a tree and prune it with out spikes your in the wrong job! i'm hearing a lot of excuses why you use/need them, you DONT need them your just a lazy climber. and not a arborist. thanks matt.

  17. Hi im looking for work as a freelance climber or a permanent job. I have been climbing for 8/9 years, have a lot of experience, and have been a team leader too. Im hard working with a professional attitude. Worked all over the UK and worked in sweden. Have all my own(good condition) climbing/rigging gear, saw's, tirfor ect... Own transport(4x4) and fully prepared to travel. Im based in sheffield.......please 07542926104 thanks Matt prady Forgot to say i have NPTC CS 30,31,36,38 and 39....and now a CSCS card too.......

  21. hmmm the NPTC one may well last a lift time but you can ONLY use it for tree work...... i want it for tree work but using it for building work would be nice to.. but even if you have the NPTC OR IPAF you cant work on meny building site with then even doing tree work on the sites..
  22. i forgot to say i have C.S 39. so if i do the IPAF MWEP ticket i will be qualified for tree work.......but the CPCS ticket is THE one for site work....can anyone help me out with this? thanks matt
  23. witch is more relevant for tree work? most construction sites want you to have the C.S.C.S card. who can help??
