  1. Buying in timber will dramatically reduce the profit margin and making a living out of it would be very difficult. I would only ever do logs as a sideline, ie get a day job and do logs on the weekend. People are stupid and go for the cheapest price and waste money till they learn their lesson. There are far too many people selling cheap unseasoned logs. My logs are undercover seasoned and are not particularly dear, but I still don't sell many until the stupid people have bought up all the cheap wet logs and they have to pay a little more for mine and even then, they leave them outside in the rain once delivered It's a funny market, one you cannot rely on I'm afraid
  2. Buying in timber to sell on is another kettle of fish
  3. The landrover measured 69" wide not inc wing mirrors at its widest with the old back. Now it measures 72" with the new Ali back Sent from my iPhone cos it was
  4. You sell unseasoned loads to people for them to season themselves As to whether its viable, what overheads do you have, how much can you live off Sent from my iPhone cos it was
  5. Heres a better pic, that one was uploaded with tapatalk and was rubbish
  6. I,ll have a gander at it tomorrow Andy and see what you mean
  7. That's exactly what I had in mind, but that looks extremely expensive
  8. I tried the vertical pushing down on the brash bit today Marc, it would be good if the jaws fully or nearly closed. Might look on eBay for a longer ram
  9. This is more the kind of thing I was thinking, replace the whole lot with something like this, but it would need to be able to pick up stems end on as well [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJEKJNW8GPU&feature=youtube_gdata_player]Branch Manager Landscape grapple prototype1V1 - YouTube[/ame]
  10. I thought about welding longer teeth on but then that will make it so it doesn't open as wide. Same with fitting a longer acting ram, it will fully close but I lose on the opening capacity
  11. Sounds like you have a bit of crud in the float chamber needle valve Take the bowl off the bottom of the carb and carefully take out the pin that the float hinges on. When you remove the float the cut off valve/ pin will come with it. You can then clean out the the hole and valve seat, there may be something as fine as a hair in there just preventing the valve from seating properly and thus not shutting the fuel off
  12. I have this to grab brash and logs, it does really well grabbing big stems but on smaller diameter stuff it doesn't,t close enough and when grabbing brash it,s useless. Does anyone use a log grab on theirs with rotator and how do they find it. Would it grab a stem end on to hold it straight out infront and how do they cope with brash It's fully closed in the photo BTW
  13. That'll be interesting Stevie, cheers mate. Luke lives near last of the summer wine country. If you actually go into holmfirth itself, you would have a problem turning a mini cooper round Sent from my iPhone cos it was
  14. It's nine for me too, it,s supposed to relate to another measurement on the human body, but I know that is not true
  15. They are mate, hence the reason I don't have a transit either, apart from them getting stuck on flat ground, they are too wide also.
  16. If I remember correct, the narrowest mog was a full 9" wider than my landy. Which meant it wouldn't go down most of the drives I fit the landy down which would have meant a long drag for most of those jobs. As you all know 10ft nearer the job can make it a huge amount easier. Mind you, I,ve had many jobs where I wished I had a mog, but the narrow long drives outnumber them I love your little mog Stevie.
  17. Why you ringing the x bills necks Andy That's some stump BTW
  18. The span from the tip of your pinky to the tip of your thumb with your hand outstretched is a good length of log
  19. Blair is teaching you too many bad habits rab, or is it the other way round ? Sent from my iPhone cos it was
  20. Fitting down very narrow drives is quite an important part of my job Sent from my iPhone cos it was
  21. I spent hours gathering data and measurements and mogs are wider and less manoeuvrable than the landy for domestic driveways. I wish the figures were wrong because I would love a mog Sent from my iPhone cos it was
  22. Stomach in, chest out and pose as if you are about to sing like paveroty
  23. We,ll show you a proper group lunge at Justin's show.
