  1. The back is not far off the size of a transit tipper body.
  2. Tag Heuer £900 and is bomb proof. Gone through hundreds of different watches, bust the straps everytime. Tag has lasted out but have not worn it for tree work for 3 years, only for best now. Phone clock does the job now and I replace that every year with my new contract. Nokia N95, also lasted the course.

  4. I asked this question and they said if you are traveling and weighing off to check your weight then there's not a problem as long as you go to the nearest weighbridge and back to the yard you loaded from to sort out the weight difference. Provided of course it is not rediculously over.

  6. I've got more or less an identical situation next week with a huge Beech. I'm going to start clearing what I know has no pressure on and then remove weight off the top and then cut and run

  8. How much would it cost to have a tipping chipbox put on a flatbed U1300L. It would have to be an electric tipper I think cos it's a basic spec mog with no hydraulics, pto or linkage.

  10. Just weighed the wood box on the back of the landy and that weighs 160kg, that's just wood work and doesn't include the weight of the metal sideboards.
  11. No 3 I weigh 15+ stone as it is (heavy boned) so can't afford to get a belly. Not really a breakfast person unless I'm up early for shooting.
  12. Trouble is it is a closed loop. Must be a hassle to change onto another anchor point or is is really for working from the same anchor?

  15. I'll not be going down that running two teams route. I do my own work, that way I know it's done right
  16. It's same priciple as a crowbar I would imagine. The higher up the tree the longer the crowbar/leverage forces at the bottom of the tree must be huge, but I would imagine no more than the forces of the wind blowing the huge Canopy/sail. Just set the thing up, find the lardyarsest person you can find and pay him twenty quid to have a go. I'll have a do, that's part of the thrill, is the fear of the first go whther it will hold or not

  18. The landy weighs 2540 empty. I have thought about getting shut of the ply and steel side boards and replacing with an Ali box which would save a good few kilos, but to be honest not 500kg which is what I reckon I am over if I put on what I normally put on. I use the landy a LOT off road and definately need 4x4 and a low box + winch. I've started making enquiries into a Mog but the basic spec ones, no pto, linkage or hydraulics, just a basic load carrier. I've been quoted 16.5K plus vat for a U1300L around 20K miles. Might have to sell the landy and the Mewp, anyone want a damaged repairable mewp

  20. Doing conifers today, when I had got what I would call a smallish load in I threw one saw, climbing kit, tool kit, petrol and blower in and went to weigh off. I was gobsmacked when they told me I was 3740kg with driver. No passenger, no lowering gear or other gear!! Got some serious thinking to do. I've had half as much more load in as that before! Picture of load below, and get your eyes off the barrels in the background, theyre mine!! I saw them first!
