  1. I though wine was a yuppy drink? You should be on cider
  2. Also maybe a tea / coffee drinking challenge
  3. Thats one of the reasons we organised a fun climb get together in my wood. It puts all the things you hear and see online into practice. Loads of people turned up and shared ideas. Some toys were available to play with and just by watching others climbing and their techniques we learnt quite a lot between us. Hopefully we will put another together soon, it was good fun.
  4. Thats something I never knew. I will look into that. The setup I queried was Drews picture below, which, at the very least, if what you are saying about inertia and wanting to close is right, should have a crab through both top holes securing the rope into the throat?
  5. He's not safe with big toys, best not encourage him.
  6. Laz I looked at your setup again last week. I know we don't agree on two mechanical devices working together and my only reason for disagreeing with this is because the croll and the hand ascender, both have open throats. I use a lockjack for climbing, which is a single mechanical device I know, but I feel safe on this simply because it is a closed system. I also got the Lockjack positioner and use that also. Which looking into it sounds a bit hypocrytical saying I don't fully trust mechanical devices without friction cord backup Could your system be "backed up" with say a ISC rope grab instead of the croll or even the postioner. I would feel a lot more secure on two "mechanical" devices if one was closed throat same as the grab or positioner. I only use the hand ascenders as a climbing aid, simply because they can easily fail.
  7. I think we spoke to you, I was with the bunch of lads with the Wakefield LA worker who was chuffed when he saw the sign on the PTO chipper that said "sold to Wakefield LA" who was then dissappointed when he found out it was going to the forestry section
  8. LA's will be their best clients, got to look after them.
  9. :scared: I couldn't do it Ed, my penis is far too small to get rid of the Landcruiser. Don't tell the wife, she thinks we're buying this new one for her
  10. If you do limb walk a long way and your side strop isn't long enough to bring you all the way back in, use the other end of your climbing line. Sometimes you can get out to around thirty foot on a smooth branch with no pegs and it's hard to get back in in a controlled manner. Throw the other end of your rope round a crotch on the end of the branch and control your swing with that. Something I learnt watching Peter (cheers Peter)
  11. Credit to the dealer, they have rung me today and made apologies for not getting back to me. Someone at the show made them aware of Arbtalk and this thread and they have rung me as a result without being contacted by bandit. Andy, one of the sales team who used to be an engineer has asked me to arrange to get the machine to their northern workshops for an hour or two and they will replace the bottom roller with a modified one. He says this seems to fix the problem with feedwheel jamming. If it does I will post the results.
  12. Well, that's the mog or RB44 out the window, just been out and bought another Landcruiser Amazon so looks like the Landy is going to have to do a few more years yet. I'm an impulse buyer, it's been a problem for me all my life. Nah, joking really, this one has done a quarter of a million miles now so I have treated the wife to a new one with 60k on the clock. Going to have to keep the snapon spanners to hand for the landy now.
  13. Bought a petzl Vertex in the stihl brand at the show and I don't like it. It feels to sit ontop of your head and you can't seem to wear it without fastening th straps say, for feeding chipper. It doesn't feel to be a firm fit. Ear muffs don't easily clamp down onto your ears you have to really force them in. Cost me £70 with a spare visor!
  14. Something I need to find out, hopefully someone will have experience of them. They are Renault / dodge I believe.
  15. This'll give you an idea, not a good example but explains what it is, http://www.4wdonline.com/ReynoldsBoughton/RB44.html The newer ones have Perkins Phaser engines and are much better spec.
  16. Tried listening to R4 last week in my lunch break, but kept nodding off. I think you've got to be old in the head to listen to it. Unlike me, old in body, young in head:001_tongue:
  17. Thought I may have seen you hanging round the MEWP stands David I had to avoid one of them for obvious reasons. Been a lot of publicity about mine since last year Going to the APF?
  18. Still in a quandry over what to do about getting shut of the 130 for somthing with better weight carrying ability. At the moment I'm going to do some research and save up a bit in the meantime so I don't have to get as much finance. I was talking to the guys who do the Tipper conversions at the show and he suggested RB44. I told him I had considered them but all I saw were knackered or old. He said you can get a really low milage excellent condition one from a firm that supplies ex military stuff for around 8k. Sounded like a viable affordable alternative to Mog or 130 plus it carries around 2.5t payload. I do know they had a little bad press about brakes, but that was supposed to be sorted. Has anyone had one or know anything about them? I understand they have low box, diff locks and are very capable off road.
  19. Nice to meet you too Steve, unlike some at capel I hear, I recognised you straight away. Did see you Jonsies but you were constantly busy. Tried to get back on Saturday but the lads I was with wanted to get home. All those toys to look at and they want to go home?? Feel a bit better this morning, but it normally takes me two to three days to recover as I normally only drink about six pints a year. Going to the APF this year with 3dogs so hopefully see some more of you there.
  20. After we had been at the show and consumed beer on site, six of us went into Cheltenham on the razz. Suffering terribly today and will do all day tomorrow. I don't drink and get drunk on two pints. I think I can remember having about 12 bottles of bud and two zambookas. Found a nightclub and hit the dancefloor, I don't dance normally but when I do "I DANCE" did a re-enactment of that fatman house dancing on utube. Certainly got some attention!! Nice town, seemed to be friendly people and enjoyed the night, got back at 3am and the others followed at 4.30am Did anyone go out in Cirencester. I was telling Steve when I saw him at the show it seemed like a ghost town 4 years ago when we went out there.
  21. Just got back. Not as busy as previous years, I think the same number of stalls were there but not as many people. Though we normally go on the saturday but this time went friday
