  1. We never did have that "lets see who can hold onto the electrified container longest" competition did we? That would have been a right scream
  2. haha Log, that was the private number that I rejected this morning
  3. My booby traps work, but more often than not on me when I forget they're there Spring loaded 3x2 is a good one but you have to put something on the shed to remnd you it's armed:001_tongue:
  4. Did you split the log and check in the middle?
  5. My LA have got a map page but it's far too small when printed out. I've used google earth before but have just traced this one off my comutor screen.
  6. I'll try and find out more details when the time is right. I know I'm speculating but he could have been on his own at the time, he had just advertised for a new groundy Here the link to the local rag, just a sketchy description for now http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/local/localbrad/3680191.Crush_victim_dies/
  7. If only everyone was on your wavelength Andy I feel as though I am belittling the person I'm talking to, unless of course it's to the nursery lads, but even then, you might be talking to a newby and show him up. Maybe it's just me that has developed a complex when using botanical names.
  8. I'm just doing a planning application and use Centremaps Live, but it peeves me that you can't see what you are buying. I have, three times now bought maps that are unsuitable and the really close up ones are going on £50 or more. Obviously I need a map of the property and neighbouring properties fairly close up. Do any of you use a different site at reasonable cost for maps.
  9. That's him David, imagine losing your Dad so young, must be devastating.
  10. I was looking at that and they look very similar to the RQG15 chassis and leg setup the rqg has outreach at 6.8m on the 12m and 8.7 on the 15m
  11. Now your all picking on me :bawling: If I had a pram, I'd waz my toys out big style.
  12. I think you are being a little Pedantic there Peter, the thread hasn't been Hijacked at all it's a topic related to the thread title and Nuggsy has had his question answered and the thread progressed on on the same theme
  13. Cracking job for a GRCS there. Would love to get toed into that with one.
  14. I have just learned this morning that an old friend was killed yesterday. Robert (Bob) Holmes from Queensbury near Bradford was a seasoned Arborist, he had been in the job 30+ years and was my inspiration to become a tree surgeon. I have known Bob all my life and he was careful in everything he did. Only last week he mentioned his batteries were goosed on his Mog and he would have to get them sorted. It turns out Bob was attempting to jump start the mog yesterday. How or what exactly happened I dont know as details are sketchy, but the mog was in gear when it started and Bob was crushed to death. It sounds as though he was crushed either between the mog and the car infront he was jumping off or the mog ran over the car infront that Bob was sat in. I'll try and update as I find out more. Bob has worked hard in a tough industry from leaving school, I will always remember him showing off to us doing his footlocking he had just learned at college. It's a shame that you have worked hard all your life to acheive a decent standard of living for it to be snuffed out in a breath. He had just moved house and had been doing small renovations to it, with a recent new partner. If there is a God Bob, let him bless you mate
  15. I think he did it on purpose for the adrenalin rush.
  16. Yes below 20% is good but I get mine down to around 15% as Pete says. Hard to get customers on board paying more for it but once they've tried a bag they see a massive difference to heat output. You will never get logs down to 15% if you haven't got inside storage by the way or good cover
  17. Not had anything to do with them, but the outreaches seem a little disappointing. The 19m one has an outreach of 6.5m Mine is 18m and has an outreach of 11m nearly double
  18. Like I said repeatedly tony, it's only an example of a referencing system that works, I'm not saying we use the same one for trees.
  19. Anyway, I've got something pleasurable than reading Latin to attend to, a dentist visit for a suspected infection under my molar causing agonising pain down my neck. I think he will drill a huge hole in my tooth and replace a dodgy filling while I shake with fear. Might take the latin book to numb my brain.
  20. That's not the right attitude Antonio Dismissivo
  21. Your just not taking this seriously Peter. All I'm saying is there are enough combinations to cover the trees there are. A lot of the first letters would be the same eg for Acer would be A. Bear in mind I am only giving you an example of a letter referencing system. But are you seriously saying CO2 is harder to remember than Carbon Dioxide. The same as Acer Pseudoplatanus Brilliantissimum would be easier to say and remember as APB as a reference or Acer PB It would with use, become as familiar to us a oxygen is O. Easy peasy
  22. Just using the alphabet in combinations of five ie: aaaaa aaaab aaaac would give you nearly 12 million combinations
  23. I would imagine terravent would depend heavily on soil type, clay soils wouldn't respond well ?
  24. The easiest way of explaining what I mean is, renaming or shortening can be easier and once it's got used to everybody will understand like this: CO2 O2 H2O H Cu Most of us, with no training can recognise the above, all I am saying is there could be a "periodic table" for trees. Tony mentioned typo mistakes on shortened words could be catastrophic? No more catostrophic than what could happen with metals and chemicals and it doesn't happen often. I know I'm not the best at explaining myself but the periodic table is the closest example to what I mean. The common ones will be identifiable to anyone without reference but will need to look up more complex stuff
