  1. I think your right Mick....it would drive me nuts if I thought about it too much, you cant change the world on your own but you can drive considerately where other don't
  2. Good man Mick I was going to suggest that if someone did get a pull and decided to take it to court that we as an industry should support that person via donations towards the costs I am not bowing down and will go to court when the time comes, but I intend to arm myself with all the information carrying it in the vehicle. If the EA officail waves me on because he cant be @arsed I will ask who his superiors are and write to them This needs clearing up once and for all I would gladly pay substantial costs to get it sorted if that is the only way I have got paperwork in my sunvisor ready
  3. What I now am going to do is carry a dictaphone in the landrover at all times, then if I do get pulled, I will tell the ea official my stance on the WCL and that I am recording any following conversations for use in court
  4. Three headsets senario Two for stop go board men and one for the climber
  5. Demolition waste is processed on site nowadays Arb waste is processed on site and if prosecution did take place, I dont think it would get to court stage let alone High court, so my house is safe. The guidelines are so unclear it would not get to court and even if it did I would only suffer a £300 fine and around the same in costs Does anyone know of any tree surgeon actually being taken to court ? I dont reckon there has been, they rely on scaring you into buying a license
  6. It needs someone with balls to stand up to the EA otherwise we will never get anywhere. I for one will not roll over and let them tickle my belly
  7. In that case is should have been Pine nearly gone
  8. Ian....I'm intrigued as to how you came up with the title of this thread Pine gone ?????
  9. Virgin timber consists of "primarily" woodchip What percentage of leaf to timber is "primarily" How, upon inspection of your load does the inspectee assertain the volume of leaf within the load. How would they measure leaf content if it did go to court If I take down a tree I might take away 4 loads, one of those loads may contain more leaf than the other three, but as a whole, it would be a minute percentage of leaf over the whole waste taken away. I reckon a good lawyer will pull holes in this legislation
  10. In the right situation they are invaluable Bob, they dont want using all the time. But when your up the tree, with chipper going, you dont have to look around, your groundy is controlling the situation telling you it's clear and which branch is sticking out that needs to come off. I was also explaining what I was doing as I was doing it and bits of deadwood I hadn't seen were easily pointed out. First class equipment but sadly over priced IMO If they brought the price down sales would rocket
  11. The G4's can do 4 way and have a flip up antenna to extend the range to one mile. You could give one to the sandwich shop and pre order your lunch and brews http://www.cardosystems.com/scala-rider/scala-rider-g4-powerset
  12. Full Duplex ( can both talk at the same time) Full noise cancelling 10 hours talk 1 week standby 3 hour charge 500m range can accept or reject phone calls £240 per PAIR Motorbike Intercom taking you further The technology has been out there for a while, I just think because they are sticking them in a pair of ear muffs instead of an helmet they are charging the earth
  13. Judging by the size of that branch you did well to fit it in there, did you do one of those special folding falls ?
  14. Ed, you forgot to chip the last branch mate
  15. Nice one, hope it's a cheap fix for you. Oh....and nice one David....you were on the right track Except for the oil
  16. They can fine you if you have a wcl because that is one of the stipulations of having one
  17. I'll have a look at them myself mate Bring em with you
  18. Had a play with them all day today courtesy of Bob Awesome things and would love to buy some, I can see one day it being a standard piece of equipment that we all use, but first they need to bring them down to a more realistic price Very clear communications even with your head stuck inside the chipper hopper Saves loads of time, frustration and shout, you can almost whisper and still hear each other, the best part is taking the mick out of the customer whilst your groundy is talking to them and trying to keep a straight face
  19. Rant rant rantity rant !!!!!!! There!!!!......got it off my chest now
  20. Wait till they start visiting yards and dictating how you store your chip or fine you for tipping somewhere other than your yard. My local golf course has had to have a sump put in where they power wash the mower down at a cost of £20K, because there may be some oil contamination from the mower. Have they been on farms and seen how much oil leaks from tractors the baffoons
  21. Which is why I will ask to go to court should I get pulled. People think just paying the money for the WCL is the end of it, we have enough paper work to do without any more What happens if the customer is at work ? So far we have Risk Assessment Method Statement Service Record Daily check on Climbing gear Daily check on vehicle Daily check on chipper Daily check on mewp Puwer check records Service record to fill in Training record Vibration records Job sheets Waste transfer daily record from and to Plus all the other paperwork you are supposed to carry Chemical sheets etc. Its a miracle we have time to actually do any work
  22. Some good feedback I read something about effluence the other day hence the reason I thought about a roof, no water on the chip, no runoff, plus it will be better quality if I get too much and sell it off
  23. Do you know what the planning permission is for ? Something to do with run off ??
