  1. I reckon they will grow twice as fast if not treble. We probably lose 5 months of growing time per year, plus they will have full intensity of dual spectrum light 18 hours a day and no cloudy days
  2. Ok as a starter splitter but I changed mine for a ram type splitter. I found with the cone type splitter that morally, I couldn't leave anyone splitting logs for fear of coming back and finding them wrapped around it. I also found myself fighting with the odd log that decided to spin, you can't let go of it or you get your finger squished. In comparison, the new HSE compliant ram type splitters are totally safe and now I can leave my groundy splitting logs without any worries.
  3. It might not happen where you live in the back of beyond, you only see a rozza once a year and he's probably on his way home for a brew
  4. Either send the groundy up or buy another
  5. I've heard that if you drink heavily, it thins the blood and improves circulation
  6. I think some people are more susceptable to it than others. From the people I know who have it, most have also and always have had bad circulation in their hands. Is this the case amongst others ?
  7. Do you think that might be from your mason work though Tom and not tree work ?
  8. I'm still waiting for the log theft visit, 8 days so far
  9. About 80% took Dave, good result. I did take some more cuttings and put them in little pots but they all look to have died back. I think the problem was leaving them outside and the pot drainage wasn't too good. So the idea is to create the perfect habitat for them. If it works well I will carry on growing them to sell
  10. I need 200m of Yew hedging and want the hedge to establish quickly. Rather than buy them at around 60cm and spend a fortune, I have already taken loads of cuttings and started growing my own. To speed the process and get them big quick I am going to set up some hydroponic lighting in a wagon body I have outside and have them on 18 hours on 6 hours off all through the next summer and winter. To save the helicoptor spotting a heat source and getting my door kicked in, I may invite plod to inspect my setup, that said, I bet I still get regular visits
  11. I watched them felling HUGE Eucs on a mountain road in Portugal about 4 years ago. Never seen anything as big in my chuff
  12. Yes but put the plate on the other side and rather than bolt the round bar to the flat plate, drill the other hole so the round bar slides through the hole so no need to bolt If you dont know what I mean I'll try and redo your drawing
  13. I'm on totally the wrong train of thought, I presumed the broken lug was the block mounting lug CJ has the answer above
  14. Stripping one to weld will be a nightmare and then getting all the bits and pipes back in the right places. You can also drill a hole in a small piece of flat bar and use the flat bar as a washer so to speak to clamp it down
  15. Yours will be ok if yours has had the jab It's mixing with other scabby dogs thats the problem or even where other scabby dogs have crapped
  16. You might be able to get away with a longer bolt and use a really thick washer David. Cast is a pillark to weld, but you might be able to get a tack weld on it and tack it onto the steel back plate and then bolt it with a thick washer for extra security. Best thing to tack weld it with is mig and stainless wire
  17. As has been said by screwie. Meet out on a walk in a field with no other dogs, stay out for a long while then take back to house. Then ignore the dogs, dont fuss and they will sort themselves out.
  18. Problem with anything smelly is you get used to the smell and can't smell it after a few days. I used castor based two stroke for a while because I love the smell, but couldn't smell it after a bit
  19. I'm not digging a pond, I'm building a mountain, we haven't got one in Huddersfield
  20. Had a go with the ditching bucket today and it's better, also pulling it all together helps a lot. Pushed my luck a little going ontop of the pile to get it higher, was only just over the width of the tracks on loose stuff on top I got down to some proper clay, like potting clay that isn't wet and that just falls out the bucket in one huge lump. I also came across a line of stones stood on end under the clay after scraping it off, I was amazed to find anything under the "potting clay" as it must be a hundreds of years when these stones were laid. I reckon they are a very old drainage channel. Hard to make out in the first photo, it's between the red lines and a close up in the second. Was careful when I found it to see if there was anything else but nothing showed. Apparently there is supposed to be a roman road running up the side of my land.
  21. I tried to scoop with the bottom of the bucket flat hoping it would icecream scoop and push the clagging out but it didn't work, shaking it gets a bit out but you have to whack it on full revs to do it
  22. I have about three bottles of micro dot somewhere, I'll have a scout for hem tomorrow
