  1. Is the John Deere the dream and the bobcat? and merc the toys?
  2. I love the John Deere RichardT, it looks in fantastic condition. Pics are great fellas.
  3. good tractors lads. i got the loader for my 880, doesnt fit at all. back to the drawing board. Keep em coming everyone. ps, seeing the modern tractors isnt doing me any good. Little voices in my head are talking again.
  4. Good work. thank you.
  5. nice pics, how have you got the chipper and the grab on the 3 point linkage?
  6. the blue crawler is a 1954 Ransomes MG5. my late father and i had her restored this year hence the excellent paint work. many moons ago when i was a small child i took the head off the engine and thats how she remained for 18 years most of which was spent outside so she looked like this. a very nice old boy near me has done a few of these so he did it for beer money. Engine was a rare diesel actually made by stihl but i buggered it up when i left it dismantled. she now has a petrol engine, hand crank etc.
  7. Hi all, i have tractors on the brain at the moment. i have been fixing bits on mine and hope to pick up a suitable loader for her this afternoon. I have been looking at pics on google and just thought we may have some lovely old beasts here on arbtalk. i will start off with my DB 880 and will upgrade the photo if the loader is sorted this arvo. oh and one of my little ransomes crawler too. Ed.
  8. Thanks for the comments all. I have lots of ideas/plans for the mog but lack of funds so just chipping at the moment. i am borrowing the winch off the county tomorrow to make life easy for one job i have. The county is a fantastic tool and the owner/driver is a dab hand with it too. Yes South Devon it is. 4 days of chipping those Montereys is enough for anyone. Oh the U900 is great. bit slow on hills but a fab tool and really gets noticed too. The chipper works great on the back and i hitch my log splitter up to the front hyds. I can still fit in most driveways too which is a bonus. Bye for now. Ed.
  9. Hi all, just a few pics of my Unimog i bought a few months ago and now has a new gearbox and i have had her working along side a friends County.
  10. love seeing the Mog at work.
  11. drove her today. easy once you know how. I have only used the 6 normal gears forwards and reversed in 1st. i will use the splitter box and low rang, 4x4 etc as soon as i can. she isnt quite ready yet but is just days away from getting to back to work. Thanks all for your encouragment.
  12. yeah thats kind of where we are now. the mechanics sorting her have never driven one before and are a little puzzled. i want to make sure we are doing it correctly.
  13. Hi all, i bought a U900 a while back and its just about ready for a road test, trouble is i cant figure out exactly what all the levers do or rather, what order they need to be in to work correctly. Can anyone help me in a brief lesson on simple driving? Do i need to double de clutch? Its a U900 with a twin plate clutch and 6 speed cascade box. Ed.

  17. Thank you guys. yes you maybe right about just rigging the wood down in large chunks and loading straight onto a trailer back to the yard. hanks again. looked at this tree a few months ago before any planning apps went in but am going back on friday to quote for the job now. Big thanks Ed.
  18. Hi all, i was hoping i could ask you guys with many years experience to help me quote on this big mac removal? Its in a driveway so a crane could get in and its over next doors drive too. i have a yard to the wood can go back there and thinking of employing a lad with tractor and timber trailer for that job. less mess on the guys drive and quicker removal of wood that i can process back at the yard. Tree is pretty big and is being removed due to splitting and delamination and limbs falling through out the year. Any assistance most appreciated thanks guys. Ed.
  19. Hi mate, i have emailed you regarding your double cab. I am looking to sell mine in favour of one as i have aunimog and could do witht he extra internal room in the Land Rover. How do you get on with yours? Ed.
  20. The gearbox has a broken seletor shaft thats why its out of the truck. I will rebuild the box myself.(hgv mechanic in previous life). I have spoken to Atkinsons and they were most helpful so expect to see the truck back in service in the next 2 weeks. Thanks for the replies chaps and i will let you know what i figure out about a chipper.
  21. Yes Mike, hydraulics front and rear. How will a 3 point chipper fit on? I need the vehicle here really so i can see for myself. i hope it will be here during the week of the 7th July. Just need to source a chipper for her then out to work.
  22. what that when its at home then chaps?
  23. Thank you Mike,so would i need something like this? http://www.earborist.com/Brush-Chippers_Kwik-Chip-400-Turntable-PTO-Wood-Chipper_3938.php
