  5. In 20 years of cutting trees down I have never dismantled a Horse Chestnut in the rain. Last month I did and I managed to turn a drive way into something resembling pools of red diesel ( that turned blue in time) , I also made 2 white vans look like they where streaked in rust top to bottom. One was not mine ! Not forgetting the white painted window sills that turned orange. Next time I will wait till its dry.
  6. Long ago i used to bore the saw down into the top of the stump and then split it with steel wedges.

  10. Treebogan. Many of the small business owners in the UK send a written quotation for the work. That is the price and the specification of the work. It is a document that may be accepted as a contract in UK law. Norwegian laws may be different. It takes a few days longer to send the quote but it also means the client cannot ask for more work at the same price if the work is done to the required standards.
  11. Nailer , remember its only Capital Purchases that are over 2K +vat that count. My Yellow pages bill was over 2k one year but that was not allowed. seek prof. financial advice for clarity.
  12. Mats like these? We hired them in. I can ask my man who can.
  13. Is it still possible to paint the leaves of epicormic growth with contact herbicides ( not systemic or translocated, for obvious reasons) it was a practice i knew of 20 years ago.

  16. If he is PAYE then you cannot dock his pay to cover breakages. If you do it could mean he could take the matter to an industrial tribunal and would probably win.
  17. Its still better to contact the local authority first. Unlike A*** an arb firm who worked in a conservation area in Christchurch and are being investigated for Illegal tree felling. Ooooops. and they are Arb. Association Approved.
  18. Exemptions generally include trees that fall into the categories of: Productive orchards for fruit. 21. The last time I did Woodland Grant work it was funded at 50 % rate. So we doubled our costings and got 50% of 200% which was the 100% required. Know the forms and play the rules to the limit to win.
  22. 20 years on and its still worth 3 minutes.
  23. Nobody mentioned GMI at sidcup in kent. They are cheap, quick to take your money , they don't like giving credit. For some making the whole payment in one go is too hard though. Not sure what this years cost will be as we had a 3rd party claim against us recently. I'm guessing at about 1500 quid. If anyone else has has claims against their insurance I would be keen to know how much it affected the premiums
  24. That reminds me of this old tune. [ame= ] [/ame]
  25. Good equipment is never a waste of money.
