  1. If he's under 24 the minimum wage is only £2.50 ish.
  2. Why?, just because people are employed that does not mean they are all on the same rate.
  3. Exactly!! Thats why trees get cut down, even though some wish they were't:001_rolleyes:
  4. So why is the cost of their maintenance not shared It funny how the people who come out making the most noise about us felling a tree, telling us what tree murders we are, are the people with no trees in their garden
  5. Thats was hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Only 5 to 10 tonne and you've not finished it in the day????????? Are you using bow saws??????
  7. That lot will be on Ebay next week Mark
  8. Your plumber scenario is rubbish!!! We are not here talking about people remove a tree because they mistakenly think its dangerous, we're talking about people who have decided that they want the tree gone (for what ever reason) and contractors saying its OK to use information that have only be given because the client wants a price and then use that information to prevent the trees removal!! I cannot believe that some of you cannot see how wrong that is!!! Your adverts and websites should a state that you will put you opinion of any given tree above and beyond the clients wishes, and try to stop the felling of any tree you see fit.
  9. But these trees are not showing much of the kind of damage that LM causes. Having looked on the net, it suggests that there are sightings of LM around here, but that damage caused by them is very limited.
  10. I wondered about leaf miner, but I did not think we had LM in the Northwest? Some leaves appear damaged or eaten, but they are also much, much smaller that typical HC leaves.
  11. Not sure about that, there will be a great many arb's who have had a quite year, where they have had time to process plenty of the arisings. Add to that all the people who are doing firewood as a supplement to their income and I don't see prices rising much. But I could be wrong.
  12. Nope, the trunks all look good.
  13. I do not believe there is any requirement for qualifications, if you can get the relevant PII and have sufficient knowledge and experience, I don't think there is any thing to stop you from doing reports.
  14. Yes some of these had the classic signs of HCBC, black/rusty looking oozing and some splitting of the bark, 3/4 years ago, but have since shown good signs of recovery, the splits have been covered by reactive growth and there is little sign of oozing now. What worries me is the leaves are so small that they can not be feeding the tree very well at all, so there chances of recovery seem very poor So far I have advice watching and waiting, in the hope that next spring bring better leaf cover. I am also going to check for buds once the leaves start dropping. I just hope they don't start shedding limbs before then.
  15. I have looked a quite few HC's that are doing very poorly, very sparse canopies with small leaves on the lower branches and even smaller leaves the higher you look. Some of the trees were showing signs of bleeding canker a few years ago, but are not showing many signs, if any know. Are they suffering from the affects of having had the BC, or is it sign of something else?? Cheers Dave
  16. I think Stevie could be reaching for the cheque book as we speak!!! Very cool!!!!
  17. Oh no not another MEWP lover !! What makes you think he's not used to having bigs saws up the tree, just because it's his first crane job, they are use a great deal on none crane jobs IME.
  18. Spikes and a couple of ice axes:thumbup1:
  19. I would suggest that you need to let your clients know that this is your stance. IMO, you are taken into your client confidence when they ask you to quote. Would they ask you to quote if they knew you would try prevent the felling?, I think not, so you should advertise the fact that you will possibly play a part in trying to prevent the felling of trees that you feel should be saved.
  20. What gives you the right to use confidential information (that a client has given you in order to allow you to quote for works) in a way thats actually detrimental to your client? I personally find that appalling and highly unprofessional, by all means try to talk the client into keeping the trees or turn the work down, but going behind their backs, when they have trusted you is IMO despicable.
