  1. Should you not have gone for your NPTC assessment after you had completed the training?? I thought back then you got trained by Lantra and assessed by NPTC. I have the NPTC tickets, but only got assessed, so did not take the training, so I may be wrong.
  2. Couple of pic's to get things started .
  3. He's a planning officer, not a lawyer, IMO no judge would see it as "reasonable" to expect staff who have not arranged the job, dealt with the client, etc, to be in a position to check such things. How does a free lance climber even know the owner of the tree whats it worked on? he doesn't. I would get pretty ticked off if my staff started questioning me regarding the legalities of our work, thats my job, my responsibility and my neck on the line.
  4. How can a freelance climber who only knows which tree he's working on when he arrives on site each day possibly check for TPO's?? The responsibility lies with the business owner or the clerical worker who's job it is to organise such paper work, not the guys on the saws, employed or not.
  5. How could there boss check the line is dead before its been done:confused1: The paper work for shut downs is produced only once the power has been turned off and earths fitted, the only people able to check it are the guys on site, hardly comparable with checking for TPO's.
  6. Do you think a checkout girl could get done for handling stollen goods, if the boss stocked the shop with dodgy stock? It is unreasonable to expect employees to be checking that all paperwork is in place before carrying out work. Where would it end??
  7. I think its actually a maximum of £20K, that can be shared between those responsible for the offence. That would normally be the owner and the contractor. I am not aware of an case where an "employee" of a contractor has be fined.
  8. Are your workers VAT registered??? If not, surly you are evading VAT??
  9. No, inland revenue, AKA "the tax man"
  10. TPO maps are a public document, so you can just go into the town hall and ask to see them.
  11. It was working perfectly for me until a few minuets ago, then it spat me out and seems to now be down.
  12. It would appear I've upset you, that really was not my intention:001_rolleyes: How you find my post "antagonising" is beyond me:confused1: you must have lead a very sheltered life. If you reread my post you will see I was not telling you what to do, just pointing out that as Nick says trying to control your local market is a none starter. This is a "discussion" forum, so if you post anything you have to expect people to express opinions.
  13. The story seems to be changing, early you did not tell us "he had told you he had not checked" When he told you this did you ask why??
  14. So you don't know and are just making assumptions? If its an old estate, where there as has no development requiring planing content, there is a very high chance there are no TPO's, he may well know this. Glad you don't work for me.
  15. How many trees has he felled that were TPO'd??
  16. IME, torque converts tend to be in mogs used as tugs for moving aircraft etc, which would include those used on military air fields, but the normal military mogs, such as 1300L's used as personal carriers, were not fitted with torque converters. The disadvantage of military mogs, is that they tend not to be ag spec, so don't usually have linkage or PTO's, so they are not really much use for tree work, IMO.
  17. I can never understand people trying to control the market by not selling locally, presumably retail processed logs and don't want to be wholesaling to your competition. But in reality if they don't buy off you they would buy from elsewhere, so its not going to make any real difference. If you sell to locals you can charge more, as they will be paying less in haulage, would that not be a good thing?? TBH, it would not be difficult for a local to use a mate who lives further away to make the purchase:sneaky2:.
  18. 406's are diesel, 404's are petrol.
