  1. Soak the maul shaft or the wedge shaft?
  2. I'm lucky I live near Merrist Wood, end of last year I was trimming a hedge and the hedge cutter started smoking. (saying this I do look after it) Quick trip to the machinery dept, bit of grease , problem sorted and back to work.
  3. Or a fencing maul.
  4. There doesn't seem to be much of a root system under the road if any.
  5. Shouldnt 3.5t if your towing need a tacho? Ive seen plenty of transits with tachos in!
  6. Buzz, What do you term as dross?
  7. Don't think you can do much apart from cleaning them out every time you change the blades.
  8. Thanks I know the place.
  9. I remember you telling me now! Who do you think is likely to pull Traffic cops with voser no1 I guess, traffic police on Mway which I trie to keep off, What about the local plod?
  10. Thanks Buzz I'm going to go and get my gear! Cheeks was that the rhythm station?
  11. Where abouts is Duboras in Aldershot? I was going to pop in to HM supplies yesterday but the parking is hopelsess esp if you want to park a long truck.! I will go and get some gortex gear thise week if it keeps raining!

  14. Only used it when ive been on the grounding or feeding the chipper. don't mind looking a prat if i'm dry!!!!
  15. Bowline.. or something that you will be able to untie
  16. Thanks for the advice and info, 1st off I'm not hell bent on braking the law (Only time was post hunting ban!!) other wise I'm a law abiding person my truck is insured taxed and mot and I have £5m public liability and tickets to carry out jobs I too want this industry to be seen as professional. I was asking for advice to enable me to try and gauge the weight of the load so that I wasn't over weight. Unfortunately I passed my test just after Jan 97 so at present am limited to 3.5t which is stupid as I am a competent and safe driver and my mum who is petrified of driveing my dads 110 TD5 could hire out a 7.5t lorry no problem. I ment by having the doors it may reduce the chance of being pulled over. I was also told that on the continent they are plated at 4.5t and I could but wont change to bigger tyres and have it plated higher. At the moment I do the odd big job but most are smaller, when my business grows I'll look to buy a 7.5t lorry or bigger and a large chipper.
  17. I saw a advert in the paper once for a builder it said, You've had the Cowboys now have the Indians contact Mr Singh.
  18. Not many people are going to want you to leave the chip!! And if they did they would probably only want to pay you half of what a company that would take it away. What about conifer chip no one wants that! And what would you do about hedge clippings you wont get much in the back of a 90. What do you think people will think when they ring you up to arrange a quote and you tell them you wont be able to take chip away? If your dead set on a Landy you need a 12 x 8 trailer and stack and smash all the brash on that. I think you need a pick up at the very least if your going to have a chipper. I'm not having a go mate I just dont want you to waste your money.
  19. Lol, ive had the dictionary out, ive ben typeing words in to word to spell check them!! I did mean TRUCK .
  20. My spelling or yours? one of us has spelt professional wrong!! Give us a clue!
  21. Did Steve get done? I was going to get some barn doors on the back so the police cant see in, get some heavy duty springs made ( 6 leaves @ £300 cash fitted ) I already have a helper leaf so the wheel arches are away from the wheel so it doesn't look over loaded keep it clean and drive very carefully so there isn't a reason to give me a tug.
  22. I fill my truck up when I have too, I'll measure l x h tomorrow to work out the cm3 of the chip box. I can load up about 11ookg do you think I should get awak with it? Approxamate size of chip box 2.9ml X 2mW X 1.20H so about 7m3 so get about 5.5m3. So legally pushing it a bit! How much do other transit owners fill thers up?
  23. We need to change the yard to cm2 and lb to kg, Any one good at maths?????
  24. Your sign writing is spot on, it really looks professional.
  25. Does any body know the approxamate wight of wood chip per cm2 wet / dry and how much it is affected by species.
