  1. cmon bro-theve gotta get here so that puts the price up and that includes gst. and also the market is a lot smaller so the margins have got to be a bit bigger. i used to think the kit was substantially marked up but after seeing the marging involved i now can understand why stuff is more expensive- we are trying to change it though! and now back to the thread..............

    unicender

anyone know of any good videos showing it in use? theres one arriving in NZ soon and i want to see how it works first, preferably not the crappy vid that comes from the manufacturer. cheers
  3. is that the stretch airs? can i say "told you so"?
  4. Hey bro how does $60 per spliced hitch sound? if its all good, let us know asap so i can get them sent to you before i go-i leave on aug 9th. and your address!! and is 25.5 inches about the length you want?

  5. ive recently been playing on the spiderjack 2 and must say its a fine piece of equipment. An expierenced climber will def fly on it but i definetly wouldnt recommend one to a new climber. and i think theres more things that you can do with a hitchclimber such as v rig, o rig, lift casualty, etc.. would be interesting to see how people who had never used a spiderjack/lockjack would rescue someone who was using one ie there weight was fully loaded on the cam.
  6. last pic-flyin to great barrier island for 2 days of cobra installation:001_cool:
  7. 60cm should work fine mate
  8. if your new to climbing then the lockjack might not be the ideal tool-its a bit on and off. get ya hitch sorted by trying lots of different combos (get hold of Dirk Lingens knot book) and once that is sorted things will become easier. Once ya hitch is always biting/releasing then maybe try an o rig system-eliminates slack from your climbing system and generally makes climbing safer (im a big fan of this).
  9. awesome bro.
  10. some beers at the comp will do bro:001_cool: got a unicender to play on too as well now:001_cool:
  11. hey marc, ive found if you loop the tail of the rg over the branch instead of just dangling down, when you pull to retrieve it lifts the pulley up through the ring/eye instead of pullin it through.on rough bark it makes more of a difference. Ive tried using some firm tubing on the webbing but the stitching ended up just working better and also takes less time to do-all bringing the price down and im putting those pics on a memory stick marc and ill send em to you when i get to blighty
  12. i think 8mm works better on 11mm ish ropes and 10mm on 13mm ropes-but every combo is different and to personal taste.
  13. it was and it is splore 2010- feb 19th 20 th 21st
  14. hope this helps john
  15. gotta love the uk summer-john, stop telling me its raining in worcs!!!!
  16. also get used to using redirects so that your not doing big branch walks and if/when you do slip off your going to faceplant into the stem. I rate redis as better than 2 ropes (can of worms here) in the rain due to the weight of dragging two wet ropes around. and make sure you use a cambium saver/rope guide to stop ya rope turning into slimy mush has anyone tried the petzl spiky over boots that are designed for walking on ice? 2mm studs that stick out-wouldnt penetrate the cambium (on thick bark) and could give heaps more grip.
  17. Hey john, ive done the lights for splore music festival here OpenDNS and also install the lights and lanterns for chinese lantern festival in aucklands albert park. For the festival we used big stage lighting and aiming the lights at burrs, uplighting from crotches, and lazers going across the canopy to give the effect of a moving light show ceiling. we attached the lights by wrapping the branch with hessian and then just cable ties. Hanging some lanterns also makes a really good effect-esp if it gets a bit windy.also make sure you allow a lot of cable to allow for wind movement. We ran ours of big generators-it took a week to install everything.Hanging art projects also look good when lit up in the tree. enjoy it mate, it looks so good when its turned on at night!
  18. it will work and retrieve exactly the same marc. I just hate the ring on the rope guide and thats why ive used the soft eye, cocoons are available in NZ and the other art pulley is not. The main reason ive nade them up for NZ is that rope guides are ridiculously over priced here and i wanted something that most climbers could afford-if people cant afford my one ill show them how to make a cheaper one at home. But i do like the clean lines on my one and the lack of items to damage-i think the cocoon is just great engineering.
  19. yeah i dont like the 10mm personally especially on blaze.(dont go by the colours though, you can get 10mm in greeny black also). yeah man ive got 4 tachyon to do, 6 hitchs to do, 2 rope guides to do, blue tongue to do before i leave.its all good though. Mark only my girlfriend knows our itinerary-even im in the dark............

  23. mate as soon as weve ironed a price out ill let ya know-shouldnt be too much though. is the spliced eye there to stop the redi rotating around the branch when its in use? is it a 16strand rope spliced ala double braid? and how did scott go with using the hollow braid as a hitch?(running the rope through the hollow)
