  1. Outstanding resource there Philip - and a very broad approach. How about anastomosis and inosculation?
  2. Sorry guys - we don't allow the posting of others tree work with the intention of criticism, but as this thread was remarkably civil considering the way it went I'll just close it here rather than delete it.
  3. Although I missed it, Mr B was awarded the AA award at the conference last night for his outstanding and continuous contribution to Arboriculture through Arbtalk. Here's a nice blurry picture to prove it! I'm sure all members will agree with me when I say - well done mate. You have definitely earned it!!
  4. Look, I've got flies to catch with chopsticks. Have you cried it all out yet?
  5. Actually, I prefer the 'boss' part to be before the 'sir' element. So it should be "yes boss sir, yes sir". Don't get it wrong again Tim. I'm a dictator on an internet forum - who knows what I'm capable of.
  6. You don't have free speech on someone else's forum. You never have and you never will. If you want to recast Obama as a monkey in your narrative of the repression of true American values then I'm sure there are plenty of other places you can do so if you can't help yourself. Just not here. If you cared to notice, I specifically chose to compare myself to the character and not the actor, but I can see how that subtlety would be lost on you Daniel-san. Now get back to waxing. Wax on. Wax off...

Yes - great bit of kit. Buy an adapter for it for a couple of quid, download the right free app and you can plug usb sticks into it.
  8. Interesting that you see the membership (and therefore yourself) as an allegorical christ figure Tim - although I do appreciate the related symbolism of me being a potentially cursed man with a job to do, however distasteful it might be... In the same vein, and without any intention of further de-railing the original thought provoking and well balanced diatribe, I would liken my role more to that of Mr Miyagi in the 1984 spectacular 'The Karate Kid'. You guys are Daniel-san and through my obtuse and apparently punitive teaching methods you will develop an ingrained response to do the right thing in any given situation. 9. Cheers, sorry about not replying directly - things got a bit hectic and I plain forgot. Thanks for the offer but quite unexpectedly I found out that there is a chap in the village who's been fabricating ally for the past couple of decades so its been left with him. Thanks for the offer though!
  10. By all means have a 'debate' about this topic but be aware that at the first sign of the same old political soapboxes coming out it will be closed - lounge or no lounge.
  11. Thanks for the replies guys, lost of options. Geoff - I've send your bloke an email as he's so close! Mick - I wouldn't be bothered but it was a limited run of 600 bikes so if I'd rather see if I can repair it rather than scrap it. There's a rather stark limit to my sentimentality though and if it's too expensive then I'll just get shot!
  12. Looks like it might have to travel anyway so distance might not be such an obstacle!
  13. Any Arbtalkers good enough with a TIG to fix up a crack in a nice thin lightweight bike frame?
  14. Done a few St. Peters but not done any for a while now. Might sort another wherry plus for Christmas but need to look into finings as it always gives me an epic headache!
  15. You want to use less water in the Wherry kit and add some extra malt - for some reason the instructions always come up thin (±2% abv).Try the link: this variation is good through to 4% abv; wherry at the pump is 3.8%. Brew UK Forum • View topic - New Brewers Post: Wherry Enhancement
  16. It has always been a fight to secure any kind of residential development in agricultural land (regardless of trees). A major part of the ethos of the UK planning system over the past sixty odd years has been the restriction of development of the countryside - we just don't have that much of it! At the risk of telling you something you already know (and assuming that your location is Oz as shown in your profile) you'd be best served by a decent UK land agent or a solicitor specialising in planning law - things are changing rapidly with regard to permitted development and our recently adopted new planning guidance is still being tested at appeal and in the courts.
  17. You do get to feel warm and cuddly but you also get to bask in the adulation of your peers for your outstanding dedication and service to the site and it users. BTW Steve does the cuddles.
  18. Which means perhaps the OP has another use in mind... Perhaps one that all this insane bureaucracy implemented by a shadowy anti-libertarian elite is designed to manage for the wider public benefit? LPA planners can't designate an AONB even if they wanted to.
  19. I guess the first question to ask is why are you speaking to planners about undertaking forestry work?
  20. Oh here and there. Eastern Europe mainly but occasionally the Indian subcontinent.
  21. Just a thread to thank the members who spot and report spam for us. Aside from the warm fuzzy glow I get from ruining a spammers efforts, this forum has some of the lowest spam of any that I know and I'd (we'd) like to keep it that way. So to start us off, thanks to the following for the last 6 months; Treequip Rover Felixthelogchopper Doobin Marko Ferguson Forestry Nick Waring Ian Leach Charles Hey Arborist Graham Sloth Fenland Quercus-90 Reddog Hoggin Jamez654 WorcsWuss DanWeibel And anyone I've accidentally overlooked... Cheers.
  22. There's nothing banworthy here yet. That shouldn't be taken as implicit support - just an acknowledgement that when everyone is being civil, self regulation works best.

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
