  1. How concerned should I be? Our 400hr Vermeer bc1000xl is smoking lots when on full revs. Not seen it myself but they are pretty sure its not belts..
  2. He could just run it across his land, still cutting all the roots, potentially leaving your trees unstable in years to come. There is very little you can do about it and proving it was damage caused by his utilities going in many years later is likely to be impossible... Try and come to an amicable solution is my advice. You dont look to have many neighbours...
  3. It can be done, but if done without care all your concerns are valid.. NJUG_vol_4_issue_2.pdfNJUG.pdf
  4. I have no idea, I have never used any of them, I imagine similar faults/breakages.. We have stopped buying them as although they are well liked by the climbers they do not hold up the abuse that employees subject them too.. I expect they would last considerably better when used by someone who paid for them..
  5. No I don't. Morsø S81-90 MORSOE.COM The Morsø S81 is a different and exciting insert, specially designed for smaller rooms. The frame is not included in the price.
  6. We found this was a problem in our narrow living room, so went for a morso inset stove.
  7. When the log is too heavy for 1 loader.. Biggest log should be 3.6 ton according to calculator.. VID-20200519-WA0002.mp4
  8. Yes, I have emailed him the pics
  9. Using the annoyingly imperial wood calculator comes in at around 13 tons. Timber and Lumber Calculators at WOODWEB WWW.WOODWEB.COM Timber and Lumber Calculators at WOODWEB
  10. We have had a clear out and have a load of dead saws. Any idea on value as a job lot..? This is an estimate as some are just a boxes of bits.. 084 2x 044 (One might be a 441 or even an 064) 3X 026 3x261 3x200t in bits 3x150t in bits Husqvarna 61 Many will have had bits missing especially plastics and the bars are almost all gone. Some have been dead for years. We are not mechanics and as soon as something is deemed economically not worth fixing we junk it but keep it for spares. We have too many spares now..
  11. £50k deposited in our account today.. Scary how easy the process was..
  12. Better pic of the 3m logs from smaller long dead tree..
  13. We have felled 2 redwood trees, one was standing dead for 7 years, the other 1 year. I guess much will go for firewood but shame not to mill some of it. Open to offers, but would rather one person takes it all. It is currently behind a 3.25cm wide gate, but if that is an issue we can move it outside (in 3m os shorter lengths). The dead one is currently cut into 3m sections (except the butt which was too heavy for our loader) the other is on the deck but yet to be cut up? Located NG11 ODH
  14. Paying off other loans with it is a way to reduce costs and therefore better help you through these challenging times. So perfectly valid. Finance companies are going to lose a fair few customers too. There will as always be loads on unintended consequences.. We have built our business with very low levels of debt and that has meant we were in a good position to survive the current disaster. I have gone for the maximum we could get which once we pay off the current finance on the chipper will leave us with a decent chunk that we could use or just sit on..
  15. If you have other finance, this is cheaper so could save you money. It is free for 12 months. If you are thinking about getting finance in the next 6 years, this is cheap and easy to get. But yes you do still have to pay it back so should be carefull.
  16. bbls available till November.. I think..
  17. bbls available till November.. I think..
  18. Someone posted this on facebook, it would be nice if we had a UK version. https://www.tcia.org/TCIA/News/COVID-19/Tree-Care-Best-Practices-for-COVID-19.aspx Please try not to derail the thread, and if you have nothing constructive to say, start your own thread.... Anyone doing anything different/extra. We supply each van with water, handwash and paper towels Antibacterial cleaner and sanitiser for tools and vehicles Limit vehicles to 2 persons and face covering/mask worn Try to keep crews the same to minimise contact Insist packed lunches and drinks are brought from home (no shop/coffee stops) Recommend removing work clothes before entering home (especially if vulnerable members in household)
  19. As arbs we run under the exemption so don't worry about the tacho's. Exemptions from EU law Some types of vehicle are exempt from EU rules. This means they come under GB domestic rules in the UK. The main types of exempt vehicle are: .... vehicles used by agricultural, horticultural, forestry, farming or fishery businesses for carrying goods within 100km of where the business is based or vehicles or combinations of vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of 7.5 tonnes or less that are used for carrying work equipment for the driver where the distance is less than 100km Drivers' hours: Exemptions from EU law - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK EU and GB domestic rules for drivers of goods vehicles and passenger-carrying vehicles
  20. That is the first time time I have heard that, we have had an o licence for at least 10 years and never had any checks.
  21. Is anyone thinking about doing this? I have checked my HP agreement and cannot see anything about early repayment fees? We have been given a payment holiday but our currently re paying about 3.5 percent on a chipper. Seems to make sense to use the BBL to pay that finance off or am I missing something?
  22. There are climbers who do just that.. Come out of tree and sit in the truck.
  23. Seriously.... You are supposed to be a team. Climbing is just one of the jobs and often not the most difficult.. When I was on the tools everyone pitched in till the job was done and I expect that from all my employees and freelancers unless really specialised (crane operator).
  24. Rates vary and in my opinion £180-£200 would be very optimistic in the East midlands. There are teams around here of 2 guys with truck and chipper who work for £450 a day. It is also very dependant on your ability. I have had climbers who claimed 5 years experience who were rubbish.
