  1. I wear Kong climbing gloves, godd protection and grip when climbing, also has thumb and for finger open so you can easily do knots etc, i think mine were about £20.00
  2. Been reading this and it is common with climbers, i get the pins and needles and numbness in both my arms and hands, more so my right, sometimes it wakes me up at night and it is frustrating when you need to go to the toilet

  5. Lanyard, spare saftey strops which i now use for cutting small limbs and letting them hang, saves rope work, first aid pouch

  7. I agree, my groundsman is the dogs, He knows how a tree should look when thinning or reducing as acts as another set of eyes.

  11. When it comes to birds nesting if i see any nests prior to work being carried out i tend to do a recce first. If the nest are vacant then ill carry on working but if they are occupied then i tend to leave the trees till the birds have flown. Sooner safe than sorry

  14. Must admit i often start from the top on unstable trees to decrease the body weight. As for rigging again i only do if necessary.

  17. Had a cool day, did quite a few large pollards on sime Planes and then had a call out to tend to a large limb from a yew coming down and killing a fox...

  19. Yeah id agree, i love it especially the climbing side of it. I dont mind doing ground work but i soon get itchy feet

Was in the army for about 7 years, came out and tried a few jobs, Got a job in a garden centre and did my RHS, then went on to do the ND soft landscape and design It was their that i saw aload of bods climbing trees and using chainsaws and i thought yeah ill have some of that and have been doing it ever since
