  1. Looked at yet another job this week to remove Poplars, approx 100 trees (at least 200tons). I know it is though of as worthless but I am asking the question is anyone interested? I know some people mix it in with other hardwoods for firewood. I seem to be removing a lot of Poplar recently and already have a fair bit so do not want more in my yard. Thought I would ask before I make plans to have it chipped for biomass.
  2. I have a lorry with Hiab and could possibly do it, pm me with details and I'll give you a price.
  3. Good suggestion, Thanks, I will call Jason Monday
  4. I'm thinking that maybe everyone in Suffolk is busy and no one is looking for work.......To clarify I am looking for the following. A groundsperson, experienced or trainee. A climber, must have the minimum basic tickets and at least some experience in the trade. Somebody to assist in running the sawmill which is very busy at the moment. Somebody to help with firewood production and delivery and general yard duties. Must have full driving licence and be willing to work as part of a team. Good rates of pay dependant upon experience and ability, 28 days paid holiday and all training and PPE supplied.
  5. If anyone is looking for a site to tip chip we are based near to Sudbury in Suffolk. Let me know or PM if it is of interest to anyone.
  6. Never heard of them before. Looks like a good idea. Do you know how much they are?
  7. And Arbtalk, hopefully people will get to hear about it and can get their kit if serial no's are still on it or they can identify it.
  8. Just heard through the grapevine that a place in Essex has been raided and they have found x2 chippers, saws, climbing gear etc. Apparently there is alot of stuff there. One of the chippers recovered was stolen on Monday night and had a tracker which led the cops to the hoard. Thought it might be useful for those who have had stuff nicked The crime no is IW104435. I think Suffolk Police are dealing with it 01473 613500
  9. I looked at these. The vibram soles are based on a 4 season winter boot design made for taking crampons so its always going to be stiff. I thought they were too heavy.
  10. Had a ranger, older one, 04, which was nothing but problems, that in itself was not so good but the problems I had with the dealer and ford themselves means I would never buy another ford. Don't know about toyota, they get good reports. I have had several navaras and although not perfect they do the job and are a good truck but the dealer service and backup is the best I've experienced in a lot of yrs.
  11. I can take some and answer any questions honestly. I am not overly bothered about selling it as when I do use it it's bloody usefull so wait for a return load back up that way when an empty lorry is going north if your not in a rush.

  12. Yes, based in Suffolk.

  13. Don't know you Dave but wishing you all the best. Well done for staying strong and being positive. Hope you get well soon.
  14. I have a position available, full time. We are based on Suffolk/Essex borders. PM me with your experience or CV if interested or for more details.
  15. It's gone now but thanks for mentioning it. Last time I bought a 20ft one the going rate was £7/800 for a good one. 40ft ones are not much more. Transport is ususlly on top of that. Beware of not protecting the hinges tho as that is their weak point as far as thieving T****S are concerned.
  16. Don't know if it's of any interest to you but I can pick up timber from that area with my lorry and can take 8/10t at a time. Can pick up 2t butts so saves a lot of time and mess sawing it up. Pm me if your interested.
  17. We are currently milling 16ton of WRC for a project. We have 2 sawmills, one mobile, 1 static and are based across the border in Suffolk. would be happy to help if we can.
  18. Looks good but I would check out the max front axle weight as it is very easy to overload it with the hiab upfront on a 7,5t.
  19. I have had several replies and pm's on this but have been away. Only just got back so will be sorting it out and getting back to everyone with a price and info etc.
  20. Andy I will look at the haulage to Bedford and be in contact. I am working away next week so will not be able to do much about it till I get back. Job not starting for a month anyway.
  21. Looked at a job today and there will be 40/50 tons of good firewood, mainly Oak, Ash, a bit of field maple and some lime. It will all be 2/3m lengths 150/300mm dia. Available at rideside or could deliver 10t loads locally. Pm me if interested. Suffolk /Essex borders.
  22. Welcome to the forum, pm me your contact details as there may be something in the pipeline in the near future.
  23. No I got someone to put the top through their big sander, does a far better job than by hand and far, far less time Also got him to do 4 joints. We have now got a big old planer/thickneser which Wally is going to install up yard which will make things like this easier to do. Your table was Elm right?
