Apart I'm not sure about the dinghies being as big a problem as they're made out to be and I'm not sure I agree with the last bit, but otherwise I couldn't agree more.

Leave it to it, it will likely regrow in spring. Oaks are pretty resilient.

Ideally you want someone who is NQF level 5+, has a PTI qualification, and appropriate PI insurance, professional membership of AA, ISA or ICF would also stand them in good stead. The biggest foreseeable issue is the lack of access to observe all aspects of the tree. I wouldn't write a report on a tree I couldn't see fully. Take up the offer on this thread, at least then you know where you stand. PM me if you get stuck, I'm heading to Kent next week and will be stopping off in Melton Mowbray on the way down, Good luck.

LA's have been known to fill positions through an agency. If they offer a tree inspector 40K, how much are they paying the agency on top?

True enough. There should be some provision on site I suppose, I'm not sure how that would/should work though. I've worked with a few lasses in Arb, there's never been any problem with them jumping in the truck and going somewhere clean if they need to. The rest of the time they shit in the back of the truck with the rest of us.
