  1. Jamie Driscoll, North of Tyne Mayor And we're here again - one rule for us, another rule for them. But this time unusually they've been caught. At a time of immense suffering by the people the PM and his chums were having a party. An apology won’t cut it. It’s time for him to go.
  2. They fined students (who were pretty unlikely to die of COVID) who had a party £10K. I wonder how much they'll fine the rich ones at the top.
  3. I dunno, I'd probably sack an employee if they got found out about something and then lied about it afterwards. People mess up all the time, but honesty and fessing up makes life more tolerable for all, in the long run.
  4. Perhaps you could broaden your associations, I know loads of people who are rightly pissed off with them What's this got to do with labour? There's no way they will be getting my vote anytime soon., I haven't been a member of the labour party since Starmer was voted in. I think that having known liars in parliament isn't going to end well for the little man. If you set the rules you should play by them, nobody likes a hypocrite.
  5. Partygate: Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak fined over lockdown gatherings WWW.THETIMES.CO.UK Boris Johnson has become the first prime minister found to have committed a criminal offence in office, after No 10...

  7. I hope your mate and his family are alright. This seems to be a pretty balanced article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/04/06/ukraine-military-right-wing-militias
  8. Hey Britney, what gives you the impression I'm pro Putin?

  11. There is some complete and utter shite on there, but there's also some really good stuff, I don't tend to watch TV, I just watch shows that I like the look of online. You'd think that good media would get picked up but that's just not the case a lot of the time. My mate does a radio show and he's kickstarted the careers of some big names, there's no way that they would have got there without his intervention and help.
  12. Fair enough, it's fair to say that it's not being subsidised in any way though. Independent media companies, even those with 'decent' content, won't get noticed by the big players without exposure from things like Film 4, when they get noticed then Netflix etc snaps them up; in a similar vein, that's why local radio like BBC introducing is so important in promoting new bands.
  13. Film 4 have commissioned some cracking films. You're missing the point though, all this libtard, fringe, oddball viewing actually generates money for the public purse, not the other way round.
  14. Good for her.
  15. Fair enough. Do you think that we should sell channel 4? We, the public, own Channel 4. And this sell-off isn’t a done deal | Armando Iannucci | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Why is the government intent on ruining our world-leading TV industry, asks Royal Television Society vice-president...
  16. The point is that Channel 4 generate enough money to pay for these things. In terms of government funding and support initiatives, do you think they stop funding sports too?

  18. I find much of UK politics truly baffling.
  19. Yes Channel 4 is self funding, they buy/commission tv shows and films from independent media companies, if channel 4 was to go then these independent companies will lose a large chunk of their revenue, hence the anticipated loss of 2,400 jobs and 60 companies. Life would be pretty dull without art: no music, no films, no painting, no photography, no architecture, no design... Art enriches us all culturally, whether you like it or not.
  20. Council bloke should just but a fleet of MEWPS for his aging arbs. What would likely happen though is they'd buy them, then sell them off, then rehire them from the person they sold them .
  21. That sucks mate.
  22. Jamie Driscoll, North of Tyne Mayor: Channel 4 has been responsible for the production of some great programming including the Paralympics, Film4 and the recent highly acclaimed It’s a Sin. The Government’s argument that it needs to be privatised to allow it to compete with Netflix, Amazon and Apple makes no sense. It’s a public service broadcaster that operates in a completely different way. It’s owned by us, the British public, is already self funding and doesn’t cost the tax payer a penny. Public opinion is against privatising it, Channel 4 is against it, the Labour Party is against it and so are many Conservative MPs. The Government needs to rethink their proposal. #Channel4NotForSale
