Again, this might be bollocks so please don't act on it, but my understanding is that It doesn't really matter which way the tree might fall, you have made them aware of the peril and it's up to them to resolve it. If it falls on your house that'll be their insurers problem if they haven't addressed the peril.

It is my understanding that you can sever tree roots on your side of the fence but you have to make the tree owner aware that the tree may suffer as a result. I might be mistaken, so please don't take this as gospel.

Brexit might have worked for you in your industry, but for many who don't have specialised income streams it has been a right pain in the arse. There are in general few noticeable benefits of Brexit. They clearly didn't take back control of our borders, £350mil a week to the NHS etc. Please feel free to let me know how the general population has actually benefited from the UK leaving the EU.

Your tree looks to be a Sorbus spp. perhaps a whitebeam. If the house and nearby buildings predate the tree there is no risk of heave. Your tree does have the potential to cause subsidence, but that's not to say that it will. I'd probably fell it and plant something smaller further away from the property.

I have some drummer mates. Building a stud wall which has a gap between itself and the main walls is a good shout. You might cover the main walls with sound dampening materials, which then may allow the plasterboard, or milled timber, on the stud walls to create some acoustics. Adding Kingspan or similar to the stud walls might also help if sound dampening material isn't viable. The main thing seems to be the gap between main walls and stud walls. Apparently.
