  1. Actually Tony, scrap my comment about being cocky. There is nothing wrong with being exceptional at something. Sorry about that!
  2. Hi Tony, Good idea for some peer review! I am certainly no recruitment expert but I have added a few comments in places to your CV. On the real thing don't forget to add your contact details and names of referees. Above all, make sure you tailor each CV to suit the criteria in the job advert, and send it with a covering letter/email that conveys your passion and desire for the job. Hope you don't mind my comments.
  3. Hi Tony, I have just phone the Arb Association to ask for their clarification on this. Nick Eden has told me that although the PTI is not an 'official' qualification (it is not on the National Qualifications Framework), it is recognised as a certificate of the appropriate level of competence required for surveying trees. It is a short 'hands on' course and assessment so does not cover arboricultural knowledge to the same level as the Tech Cert or ND etc, but it is a valuable ticket to have as a professional tree surveyor. Do you have anything to add to that Paul (Smith)?
  4. No problem. I do see the PTI as a worthwhile badge of competence, and to that end would look favourably on candidates with that 'ticket'. I haven't specified it as there are other worthwhile qualifications out there and I don't want to narrow the process too much. As an aside, if people are interested in the posts please email me your CV ([email protected]) rather than contacting me through this forum. Thanks.
  5. I was under the same impression as you Bundle 2. I have searched the AA and LANTRA websites but can't get any further clarification from there.
  6. The first is essential and the second desirable! In other words we will consider people with no previous highway surveying experience, but we can only consider people with a recognised Arboricultural qualification. I'm afraid it has to be this way due to the contract specification.
  7. Acorn Tree Consultants, part of the Acorn Environmental Management Group, require 3 qualified tree surveyors for a Highway tree survey to commence in January in the West Midlands. If you have the following skills and qualifications I would like to hear from you: Essential: - a recognised Arboricultural qualification, minimum level 2 - a clean driving license - good tree identification skills - a working knowledge of visual tree assessment Desirable: - at least 2 years arboricultural experience - experience of using handheld data capture devices - previous experience of highway tree surveying These posts are initially short-term for 12 weeks but may be extended. Competitive rates of pay based on a per tree basis. Interviews will be held in early January for a prompt start soon after. Please email your CV to [email protected] to be considered for interview. For an informal chat about the posts please call me on 07866 773373.
  8. £120 + VAT. See page 3 of this thread for all the details.
  9. Hi steve. I have plans to facilitate running some more courses next year so will keep you posted.
  10. It was a good day, thanks to those of you that made it a success. Out of interest was the date a problem for people? When I first suggested it lots of people said they would like to come but in the end only 2 from AT came. What happened?
  11. :Duh! They are Holm Oaks!
  12. Last night had me laughing..."you're not a big fish. You're not even a fish!"
  13. For those coming on Friday, the start time is 9.30am and finish at 4.30pm.
  14. Here you go mate - better to ring them yourself. Sorry it didn't work out. Tel: 01162606939 Email: [email protected]
  15. Sorry to hear that. Hope you can work something out.
  16. You won't be turned away! See you on Friday mate. Glad you can make it.
  17. Is the issue you can't get to a fax or you still haven't decided? Like I said - if you can confirm you are definitely coming I will let Treelife know tomorrow and you can just bring the payment with you. If you can confirm now please don't pull out last minute though...
  18. Ok Tony. If you can get to a fax machine that would be ideal. Otherwise can you just confirm you are definitely coming and if you have any dietary preferences for the lunch provided.
  19. No probs. Can you send an email to my work address to remind me tomorrow? Anyone else up for it? Time is running out to sign up.
  20. Sorry Tony, I meant what I feel is an acceptable minimum rather than a legal minimum. Still, at the end of the day an intelligent and experienced arb with no official quals could write a perfectly acceptable tree report.
  21. Cool. I did the training last week. It was quite an eye-opener! Sorry to derail your thread Sloth. I would suggest just to take on whatever you are comfortable with and avoid/sub out any reports that you aren't confident about. I think a level 3 qualification is generally seen as a minimum.
  22. What puts me off them at the moment is that they have so few ports. Am I right in thinking you can't plug in a keyboard or SD card etc. And you can't play DVD's on them or write on to a CD?
