  1. I delete zero posters at the TreeHouse. Who needs em? They have 3 months to participate or be culled.
  2. Spot on, Lee!
  3. Please, no put downs on members - it's just not cool.
  4. Here's one site, mate! __________________
  5. Mani does speak wisely.
  6. Flaking, eh? We call that "coiling up a hank." I always thought "flaking" was what you did with your throwline when you stashed it in it's container.
  7. Same here. It made for some nice invisible splinters in your hand.
  8. I was hoping this was a thread about strippers.
  9. Cajun lobster.
  10. No, I'm down in the south, with swamps, crawdads and 'gators.
  11. I ain't been to college (well not tree college) either, but my guess is NO.
  12. Healthy looking fella!
  13. I wasn't very impressed.
  14. Scotch Eggs, for EVERYBODY!!!
  15. I'm with you, Matty!
  16. How 'bout the ArbTalk tee shirt/sticker being an ancient topped tree? Wouldn't that be great???
  17. I think it looks beautiful. You guys ROCK! We need more trees topped in the UK. Then, people would have more room. (the New MasterBlaster)
  18. Dang, I didn't know you had such thin skin. How 'bout this??? I'll NEVER criticize anyone here ever again. I'll only say nice, feel good things to ya'll! From this moment on, ALL British treework is AWESOME. When I see something wrong, mums the word! I think you should have a separate Topping/ Pollarding/ Fracture Pruning/ Coronet Cutting Forum so all of us can share in this most excellent form of treework. God save the Queen!
  19. So as long as it's an "honest" day's work, there are no rules whatsoever to follow? Everybody just does whatevr they want? What's next? Filling cavities in with concrete?
  20. Dr. Alex Shigo.
  21. So you you made proper "drop crotch" cuts. My point is it will grow back so quickly it just isn't worth doing unless (like I said) you just like to work and the client has money to waste. Simply put, it didn't need to be done. Just ask the tree! But then again, I'm a crazy Yank!
  22. Generally speaking, we don't do that over here. Under powerlines, but that's about it and we call it topping. It's a waste of time and money because most of that removed growth will simply grow back in a couple years, so why do it? Just to pass the time?
  23. I wonder who's doing the right thing?
  24. He shoulda used a dog-eared cut, lol!

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
