  4. The last handful of saws I have bought have been orange Jon. Seems there's only the 880 left for them to mess around with, but guess the time will come for that too sooner or later.
  5. Oh yeh, we all know who's making them do it, but lets face it, its not going to save the planet is it? Yes they are possibly a fraction more economical, and are said to be lower on emissions, but its doing nothing for the fact we are still pulling fossil fuels out of the ground to feed them!

  7. Seeing things like this only proves why older saws are worth so much money! I mean come on, why mend something that aint broke? Just another step down the slippery slope towards a second rate manufacturer IMO. There was once an outstanding line-up from Stihl, the 260, 361, 460, 200 and the 660. All gone to the grave to be replaced by something inferior.
  8. Rick, not sure if yours is a 3500kgs truck, but if not, it is easy to upgrade. As for the handling issues, get extra springs(either steel inserts or air) fitted, also worth looking at are the HD outers. Another very, very beneficial thing to fit is front and rear anti roll bars. These combined with a stronger spring set-up will transform the handling totally.
  9. Yep, I get what you mean. I have noticed though that most folk with a single cab 130 tend to stick a toolbox across the front bulkhead, therefore making it push the load further back. An easy add on that does limit the truck in reality. There are 3050kgs, 3500kgs landys and there are standard chassis and HD chassis. The differences are not definitively linked. Usually a HD will be 3500kg but a standard can be 3500 too. I think all 130's are 3500 though, but the term hi cap is for the body type as mentioned above, not anything to do with GVW. The upgrade is easier than people think. Paperwork, VIN tag and away you go. If you wish to fit double springs, anti roll bars etc, you can. All these will help with ability

  11. In what way? I mean legally, not "oh, you can overload it much more"!

Usually getting one already converted is the cheaper way around, but you dont get it exactly how you want it, thats the bit that costs but take into consideration how long you will keep it to see if building to your spec is justified. As for 110 vs 130, depends on how likely you are to getting pulled and put on a weigh bridge. The 110 will legally carry more with the same spec. If you get a 130 double cab, or a single with a toolbox behind the cab, you will overload the rear axle with about 400kg in the back.

  20. There's plenty who burn upto 30% and many log suppliers will say its ok upto 25%. To get the most out of your wood and not tar up below 20% is best, and below 15% is difficult but ideal.
