  1. hopefully this comp will be more successful that the last...which stevie(shreks wee brother) won with a grand total of 2 referrals! either people were signing up and not listing their referrer...or the prize wasnt tempting enough last time!! make sure people list you guys!!
  2. it is very nice....embossed logo too...i wouldnt mind this for me!
  3. This months top referrer competition is sponsored by Chippertech chainsaws. Chippertech are based in Old Newton, Suffolk, and specialize in woodchipper hire, repair of all makes of chippers, as well as competitive and reliable servicing of all chainsaws/garden machinery. They also stock a full fange of chainsaws and arboricultural equipment. To enter this competition all you have to do is refer a friend to Arbtalk. Once they register, be sure to get them to fill in your arbtalk username as their referrer and you will be in the running to win the fabulous Husqvarna Axe pictured below. Closing date is April 30th Best of luck!
  4. i always tell people that my price wont be competitive before i even go and see them. saves any embarrassment on the day then
  5. why not scrounge some off daniel on your next visit to old newton?
  6. hmmmm thats interesting.....i had a komatsu hedge cutter, i bought it at a car boot last for £70 second hand...wouldnt normally buy thats ort of thing used but at that time i was doing a lot of road work and wanted something for bramble bashing. turned out to be one of the best hedge cutters i ever had and it took some serious abuse. id be interested to see if their chainsaws are as good
  7. if you get any wood you want to sell peter give ma a call
  8. Myself and Andy Collins are looking to arrange a get together on May 16th-17th, if anyone may be interested in getting together for a social gathering and informal recreational climb then please let us know by replying here. The event will take place at the wierd and wonderful wood show based at haughley park in Suffolk...located just off the A14 between Stowmarket and Bury St. Edmunds. All details are to be confirmed, but there should be camping allowed on site....there will most definetly be toilet facilities, various refreshements on site, including i believe, a bar. theres stuff there for the kids too so if anyone fancies coming along for the day and bringing the kids there will be some stuff for their entertainment. Theres some fantastic trees on site, including some 140ft wellingtonias which i have already climbed in the past....these may be a little too close to the main area to play around in but we may be able to arrange something. Just outside of the main show area, in the field which is generally used as a car park there is a substantial Plane tree that i have earmarked for the event as well as several large mature Oaks...camping in this area would also fit quite well i think. as i said, please reply here if interested
  9. im not entirely sure...lots of drunkenness though apparently
  10. if you're looking for a fun competition then the east of england cutters and climbers comp is the one to attend
  11. i was kinda dissapointed if im honest...i went in with the wrong attitude. i was very happy with what i'd done.....aeriel rescuse for instance...i think my time was 3rd quickest...unfortunately that doesnt count for squat and in the points table i was something like 20th.....its all about play acting in that particular event, something which isnt really my thing. speedclimb, throwline and footlock i didnt do so good at but then didnt expect to either. work climb, again, my time i think was pretty high up there, but missed out on a lot of points. i did win the novice section....but i think there was only 2 novices haha. i'd recomend going and having a look first
  12. footlocking at 30secs as well as various other parts
  13. if you are just talking about Ddrt then theres a small bit of footlocking using this method in my following vid, its not too clear though. [ame] [/ame] one of my few vids that youtube havent removed the soundtrack from yet!
  14. ive only done one competition.....you just use your own kit, doesnt need to be lolered as everything is inspected on the morning of the competition. i'd recommend having a try at least once. there are 5 disciplines, work climb, aeriel rescue, footlock, speed climb, and throwline. im sure someone will post up a link to the rules which will give you a better idea of what each event involves.
  15. haha will that never be forgotten? actually its going to be kinda hard for them to enforce, i dont envy them that, but can understand they dont want a repeat of last year. people need to excercise a little self control. perhaps they need a moderator haha
  16. do you mean up a double line or footlocking the tail in Ddrt?
  17. bump....still looking for confirmation from more people that this is fixed please
  18. i saw a lego version of this
  19. stevie...when your invention is finished can you be sure to post a pic for us?
  20. btw, this first batch in the country is going to be in limited supply as i understand it...so you guys will be some of the first to have one. make sure you wave it in the faces of your work colleagues as much as you can!!!!
  21. sorry for the delay mate, thanks for your patience
  22. jeeez did you not get it? wish you'd said so i could chase it up mate. hopefully theres no others that i dont know about!!!
  23. In case anyone didnt catch the link on the other thread i posted, this little tool is due out in the next couple of weeks, which i think will probably end up finding its way into most arborists and foresters pockets over the next few months! The tool is being distributed by Fletcher Stewarts so should be available from most of the Arbtalk sponsors currently selling their products. check it out at http://www.topsaw.com RRP i believe was £16, im sure i'll get corrected if i caught that wrong.
