  12. its not tulip poplar at all....i was just joking honest...its been a long day
  13. sorry, you are right, its liriodendron...i was confusing my little brain as its sometimes referred to as a tulip poplar
  14. oh yeah, i just remembered the other thing i liked about the komatsu, the exhaust was on the opposite side to most others so i didnt end up burning my old man when i stopped for a break with my hedgecutter rested against me
  15. im not sure. i do remember several years ago asking a chainsaw mechanic why the stihl blades wouldnt cut...it was something to do with the spacings they use
  16. ive always advised people against stihl hedgecutters. Mechanically they are sound, but they just dont cut nice. One of the companies i sub for recently bought they're latest offering so i decided to have a go with it to see if things had approved. unfortunately not. they do cut, but if you are looking for a quality finish they just arent good enough. i currently have a robin, which have always been good for leaving a quality finish. parts tend to wear on them however, and im not sure the vibrations are great. also have a tanaka, its a nice balanced and light hedgecutter to use...cut isnt quite as good as the robin though. the most robust hedgecutter i ever used was a komatsu. it went on and on, and it got a lot of abuse as i used it mostly doing roadside work, trashing down blackthorn regrowth etc. the blade system was the same used by robin so the cut was great. komatsu have moved on from that particular model and i havent tried their latest....its something im going to look at next week at the APF though
  17. i buy all mine through Web and email hosting, domain names and dedicated servers - Fasthosts
  18. if you get really stuck i could possibly make myself available, rates dependant
  19. i just ordered one of those ankalads. i have an awkward height hedge i do every year that i have it in mind for...i'll post my findings soon!
  20. Due to the amount of non Alaskan Mill related discussion the Rob's forum, and the general popularity of this area I have now opened a dedicated milling forum. The dedicated Alaskan Mill remains but has been moved to a sub forum of the main Milling forum. enjoy
