  5. Water firms to impose surge pricing during heatwaves Smart meter trials will mean families pay more during summer or when hosepipes are banned Tim Sigsworth. Tom Haynes Money Reporter Related Topics Water and sanitation, Heatwave, Drought, Hosepipe bans 11 July 2025 9:02pm BST 2879 Gift this article free Water companies will use smart meters to increase prices in the summer, meaning customers will pay more during heatwaves. Surge pricing trials are being introduced for customers with smart water meters at 15 companies across the country. Under the pilot schemes, water costs either change depending on the time of year or become more expensive as customers use more. Ofwat, the industry regulator, said that the trials, planned for the next five years, would increase prices “when water is scarce” and could potentially be extended to all customers. The Government is backing a nationwide rollout of smart water meters in an attempt to reduce water consumption, which ministers believe could help prevent hosepipe bans and other water rationing.
  6. probably not, it's hard to climb when strapped in the vehicle.
  7. sometimes ya gotta have more than one try to get it right. a good tip,,, "never trust anything that bleeds for 3 days or more,, and doesn't die" but good luck.
  8. no, I had already apologized before you posted,, facts are important.
  9. I am aware if through hard use, and taking every bit of power from them, ie; using them until they stop, results in them not charging until they cool down. Lithium as you are no doubt aware react differently from the conventional lead acid type in the way they discharge, lead will progressively lose power as they get used, whereas lithium put out the same power until the very last moments and then die, I was advised to avoid letting them become completely flat for a couple of reasons, 1,it shortens their lifespan. and 2, the charger requires a level of remaining input to start the charge cycle.
  10. try to keep up mystic mick, done that already.
  11. no, It is I who should apologise, there have been a few posters lately who post a question, and ignore any replies, then post the same question a few days later, I mistakenly thought this post was a repeat of that. so in my limited opinion, it's quite common for mosses and lichens to form a harmless symbiotic relationship with trees and other plants. this looks at first glance to be one such example. once again, my apologies.
  12. I have a few things using lithium batteries, but not stihl versions, I haven't noticed any loss of power or run time in hot weather, but the cold certainly seems to affect them in that way. are they original genuine batteries or knock off copies?
  13. "AND,,, HERE WE GO AGAIN???" And what part of the world are you in mr Nutt?

  16. what I find surprising is not that there's an attempted cover up,, but there is /was a single human being that couldn't see deficiencies in Bidens cognitive abilities. plenty of derision every time Trump opens his mouth, so it's reasonable to expect Bidens behavior was similarly monitored.
  17. With enough power, money, and influence, both politically and criminally, sh1t happens, and the conclusion is whatever you want it to be. contrary to popular belief the truth does not always come out, and with the right connections just about anyone can be silenced, one way or another.
  18. Excerpt from GOV UK those making these crossings are coming from safe countries, such as France, where they could have claimed asylum. More recently, we have seen large numbers of people making these dangerous journeys who are from well-established safe countries, where it is clear they are not at risk of persecution. these clearly are NOT seeking asylum, they come here because it's easy to exploit the system. I don't see any other countries putting them in feckin' hotels, and giving the them the benefits they get here.
  19. I would stir that a little more,,, might look better when it's on the wall.
  20. I have the exact same saw, bought it mainly for the missus to use, after suitable instruction, like yourself I have plenty of makita 18v batteries already, keep it sharp, keep it oiled, and clean it ready for use after each session and it will serve you well, I asked our resident climber to give it a try and he was impressed with its performance, it's never going to outclass a Stihl, or Echo but then it never set out to. equip yourself with the same ppe as any chainsaw and you'll be good to go.
  21. When I met him I was part of a scheme giving offenders a crack at becoming a part of society once again, I along with a few others had to keep around a dozen of these guys in check, split into 4-6 groups, I had a recovering alcoholic who became violent when drunk, and often violent when he couldn't get any alcohol, threatened to kill me once 'cos I poured his vodka in the river, all minor offenders really, but still needed a heavy but fair hand. he spoke to every one of them, showing great interest in their enthusiasm to be something in life, and after he left they all commented how he was a great bloke and they were amazed he even spoke to them. the positive change in their manner was very noticeable after he left. he even had a go at doing some of the work himself, and as I said in another post, enjoyed it too. Here he is trying his hand as a reed cutter, with the late great Eric Edwards. another old gentleman who was to become a friend to him long after that day.
