MS661 now?

How is the MS661 working out?

Any problems cropping up?

 

I thought I should ask the question, or I'll just get another 395xp (despite the floppy chain brake lever)

I've had nothing wrong with mine apart from a loose spark plug cap.

Otherwise is pulls like a freight train

We are still running one of the very first, alongside another a few years old both have been great and a huge improvement over the 660.

Okay maybe huge is the wrong superlative to use.

 

Having spent days blocking down with both 660 and 661 the improved ergonomics and anti vibe make it a superior saw to use due to its smoother and improved power delivery.

 

I was just a self employed climber and being given a 661 over a 660 to dismantle a tree is a luxury imo.

I'm running a 32" es light that came with the saw, a 25"oregon for ringing up trunks and when the 32"is too long and if i really need it i normally carry a 20" in the back of the work vehicle that can fit the 038,391,041or the 661

the 20" is if i get a pinch or snap a long chain i can normally carry on working or get myself out of trouble

I also am running an 8 tooth sprocket at the mo but i might go back to the rim sprocket as i have a load of 404 chains and a bar sitting around

have 661 for a year now. no probs, great saw. we use 18, 22, 27 & 30 inch bars.

It pulls it fine, just not fast.
