This is fpv freestyle quadcopter flying. As you can see be able to scale a tree would come in handy.

Is this your footage? Not surprised you got it stuck in a tree if so

Ill invest in 25m of new proper arborist rope if thats whats required as a minimum.

 

I used to reguarly climb free style when i was younger. I know the dangours involved so been strapped in is enough for me to feel safe

Thing is, you're asking for climbing advice on a forum populated majorly by climbers. We're not exactly gonna say "yeah that 2nd hand dynamic line will be fine, we just buy the expensive stuff 'cos we're flash".

 

You won't be able to buy an appropriate climbing kit for less than the drone is worth, so you're options are take Steve's advice, or stop flying into trees.

Pay a climber to shoot up and get it, that rope alone will cost at least 70 quid.

Don't be daft trying to climb, oaks are a bastard to climb too imo, limbs far apart etc. You can't put money on safety.

Would a quad copter be strong enough to carry a throwbag and trailing line? Do they make a remote release mechanism? Could be the next big thing in arb access set-up.

I as others have said would strongly advice against you doing this yourself. However if you are not going to get a professional to do it for you, I would advice you don't do it on the cheep. I would take a tree climbing course cs38(or whatever they call it now). And spend a few hundred quid on proper kit. I've been climbing several years and a 90ft tree is not going to be a straight forward climb. The problem is if you are climbing by yourself and get stuck up a tree your going to have to call a local tree surgeon anyway.

Yer i apperciate that hence why i asked. A properly spec'd rope it is. Unfortunately paying somone else wouldnt work out if i cant get it back the same day because rain would kill alot of the electronics. I think i can put a basic but safe, possibly slightly uncomfortable climbing kit together for £120. Not flying into trees isnt an option

Christ, there must be something in the stars today - a guy just posted a request for comment on Arboristsite - he wants to prune 50ft oaks and cypresses on his land, thinking about spiking up them and removing the branches with "a hatchet, machete and 18" chainsaw" ..(!)...holy mackerel Andy...
