whats the best way to store carburetors for a long period?

 

with fuel in or out?

 

ie diaphram ones and float ones (im sure someone will correct me with the right names)

Well you probably should put some type of oil in that wont rot the rubber o-rings seals etc but will stop the diaphragms sticking but tbh it will prob be fine just run dry.

A normal float type carb should be stored dry but a diaphram carb is best stored with a very oily mix run through it as Mesterh says to stop the Diaphram / flaps sticking and drying out, some of the older diaphrams go hard when dried out for long periods

im just thinking about puttin my movers away for the winter so only 5 or 6 month

I wouldn't bother for the winter, I put my mowers away without draining every winter and start them first or second pull every time :thumbup1:
