Machinery grants

I'm looking at getting a tractor, boom sprayer and a scarifier. Would any one know of any grants out there that might be able to help me?

Pffft! Highly unlikely unless your already loaded or a farmer.

Money tends to go to money. A couple of years ago I remember someone applying for a grant but a condition of it was you already had to have the money for the kit in your bank. Buy it then get the grant money.

Sorry it's a negative first reply hope it gets the ball rolling for better ideas.

There's occasionaly young entrants grants and rural development funds for small businesses that could be worth a look but alot of grants are up to 40% and just run until the money's gone so it can be hard to find one when you need it.

 

It's worth having a look around, we got help with a chipper from the European regional development fund but there's also a lot of conditions attached.

Grants I have received were exactly like that - had to pay all of it upfront and then claim the grant money back.

 

I doubt you would get a grant for a tractor as that could be used for agricultural work - that was the excuse I was given when trying to argue the pto powered processor they were given me a grant for needed a tractor to power it.

Try the leader fund. You have to be able to prove it will create jobs, help your business to grow and benefit the rural community.

Leader is the best bet (albeit a snowball in hell's chance) at the moment. I asked the question at the last leader presentation.... Have you grant funded MORE or LESS money than the cost of keeping all you desk jockeys in a job 'administering' the scheme?

Most of the committee members of the local groups are volunteers. I know two of the guys on our local group. One is a town planner and one works for the nfu. This is why it can sometimes take an age to get a decision as they don't meet that often.

Grants tend to come from LAG groups. There's a really good one in east Herts called Eastern Plateau - funds anything from machinery, marketing costs, infrastructure etc depending on the project. Max grant 40% net VAT.
