Thinning a Holly tree

I have been asked to thin quite a large Holly tree. Just the thought of doing that is making me feel sick Anyway, I have never in 20 years thinned a Holly tree, reduced plenty for sure. Has anyone else done one, how did it react to it, and was it worth the effort?

Ive felled a couple and crosscut for chipper that was bad enough,variagated if memory serves.Can u subbie the job out to someone else?

an old boy told me many years ago it is unlucky to cut holly except in the month of December.

Im sure it ll be fine with the appropriate ppe,suit of armour.

Ive climbed a ivy covered hawthorn...if its a bad as that good luck mate

Too big a tree maybe but the thought was to poke the pole in from the outside and cut branches at the stem.

Not done one in thirty years and can't see any real reason (apart from money) to do one.
