ford ranger mot

i have been told by my local garage that they can not mot my ford ranger?

 

i thought it was the standard mot class 4, but they said it class 7:confused1:

 

they looked at the plate under the bonnet and it says 3020kg

 

what do you get yours mot at class wise

You have a single cab presumably?

 

I'm no expert but I understand dual purpose vehicles under 3500kg are class 4 but 'goods' vehicles over 3000kg are class 7. I think super and double cabs fall into one, single cabs in the other.

If you get them to put detail of you truck in computer for MOT it will soon tell them what class it is.

I have a super cab and never had a problem and I have used a variety of garages.

Get to Ermington MOT mate. They will sort you out. Fairest MOT place in the whole damn UK by a mile. :thumbup1:

I had a similar issue last year, so looked into it to clarify.

 

Dual purpose vehicles with a gross weight of 3000kgs class 4. ( double cab, super cab pick ups, vans etc)

 

Vehicles with a gross weight of 3000kgs to 3500kgs class 7. ( single cab pick ups, vans, tippers, all 4x4s.

 

That's right even your Landy should be class 7 mot if it falls into the weight category apart from station wagons.

 

Some vehicles come up on the system as a class 4 but are really a class 7 like mine does.

 

For a few extra quid it's worth getting the right mot just in case you get pulled or an accident.
