what are the lines at the back of the cutter for?

The obvious one is the guide for the filing angle, the other parallel ones act as wear limit/service life markers.

it's smooth for sneding but rough for a felling cut.

I,ve got one on my 550xp at the minute and i,m very impressed with it will be getting more

Having sharpened this chain for the first time today ( i bought a batch of four to change round ).

It was easy to sharpen and very smooth  cutting ( Scots Pine ) . In fact i used the wrong file size 7/32 instead of 3/16.

Maybe this is a very good chain after all.

Anyone know the side plate sharpening  angles for this chain (95TXL).?

i got 4 lops with my new 550 xp i love it , handles anything and keeps its edge real well , ok now and again i hit something and needs deressed a bit but the cutter is a bit longer so its a godsend too , cant  fault it , even in real hard dead elm its smooth and cuts well  but needs the 3/16 th file which i occasionally forget about and grab the 7/32 and , oops , not fit , go back tot he bag and get the 3/16 :-0 , all my other saws are full chisel 3/8 thus why i forget sometimes :-)

Is the rotate 4 chain thing to reduce sprocket wear.

 

Stihl  say in there  info to use a " 4-2-1 method"

 

4 chains for 2 bars 1 sprocket & replacement ratio.
