Do as close an examination/test as you can. I've slated the Sonim XP1 here before and I haven't changed my opinion one bit. The XP3 might be a different kettle of fish but its predecessor was basically a bombproof steel box with early 80s software in it that sold on it 'indestructible' tag.

One particular niggle was that the Bluetooth only connected for 30 seconds - precisely. Sonim eventually told me there was nothing they could do due to the phone's software. Bearing in mind that Bluetooth is a system that should be the same in any vehicle that's worrying.

Look into the XP3 but carefully.

i was thinking about one, changed my mind though, i bought a samsung b2100 extreme of ebay, its a cracking phone,

to prove to the guys i work with how tough it is i let them test it, it was thrown about, driven over with the van, put in a cup of tea, dropped in a 3 foot stream and left for 20mins and i dropped it 20 odd feet out a tree onto hardish grass.

after all that it still looks like new and works great
