Hedgelaying; New season.

Been a while since I've been on here. Another month and the season kicks off with the matches.

That looks ace. I particularly like the one with the twisted line that runs along the top.... is that done with willow stems?.... I guess it isn't planted.

Those are all laid Stafford style. Laid very tight and the tops are bound with the materials out of the hedge.

superb pictures, the one from the road shows just how tight and tidy it is- lovely.

 

I do a certain amount of Devon style every year- but I'm not going to post pictures now:laugh1:

I saw some really nice hedges on the Staffordshire moorland a while back whilst visiting the in-laws.

 

Going to make a special effort to look up and visit some Devon / Cornwall comp's this year.

Sharp tools. When you think they're sharp...sharpen them some more:001_smile:

 

Have a go. Build the hedge around your stakes and straighten up bent stems to fit and keep the stakes in line.

So, to ask the most basic of questions, it really is a matter of just cut it at the bottom, bend it over, stake it (down) and hope it lives?
